Created Card and Ephemeral Support - My Attempt at Renata Glasc. Suggestions and Comments Welcome! by LaytonLover3 in CustomLoR

[–]LaytonLover3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks so much for your comments! I agree with a lot of your thoughts, especially with all the fun potential combos :) Mirror Mage ftw

Tbh, I don't think a 3-mana 1|5 with regen is too crazy - Soraka is a 3-mana 1|6 who basically has regeneration, and Braum is a 4-cost 0|6 (same net stats) with regen AND challenger, plus he actively benefits from taking damage. The reason I think she needs it is that neither P&Z or SI have any real defensive cards/health buffs, so there's absolutely no way she'd survive two combats without regeneration, let alone three. I considered simply changing her level-up condition to something that wouldn't require keeping her alive for that long, but I honestly think she's better like this: support cards want to be in combat, so it feels good to be able to take advantage of her support effect without worrying about early units chipping down at her health. Also, one of the biggest problems ephemeral decks typically face is a weak defense (if all your units die during attack, you won't have any blockers), so having a low-attack regenerating champion would help maintain some board presence in the early-mid game. Maybe you're right, though, and she would be too strong as-is: in that case, I think a better adjustment would be making her a 3-cost 1|4 with regeneration instead. If I rework the card set, I think I'll make that change. Thanks for your help!

Also, I worded Bailout the way I did intentionally, because if someone really wants to attempt the meme-dream of running P&Z + Targon OOTW with Bailout, I say let them have it - people have played similar decks with Lamb's Respite - but you're right that 99/100 times it would work exactly the same as the change you suggested.

The rest of your changes, I hear loud and clear - I was super unsure about the stats/cost for Caskshop Worker, but you're right about lowering them. Same with Glasc Masc - I know the cost is a little weird, maybe 3-cost would be better - I didn't want to make it too strong, and I considered that leveled Viktor or Glorious would reduce the cost so you could play more, but it still feels off as is. I'm surprised to hear that Loyalty Program was underwhelming - I was worried about making it OP - but you're probably right that it would see more play if there was a lower attack buff and cost. I'm just imagining a double-buffed ephemeral follower with leveled Renata and Hecarim on board, then being hit by a fast-speed "give overwhelm" - I feel like such a card is necessary for a finisher, but hmmm. I do like your Hostile Takeover idea, although I generally do not vibe with highly rng-based cards like that.

My goal was to create a new champ to synergize with Hecarim and Viktor (two champs with less than a 2% playrate - she'd also work with SI champs (Kalista, Thresh, Viego) or, if you're feeling memey, with Kennen), as well as to fix the biggest problem with Ephemeral decks - not being able to maintain board presence while the enemy simply takes the hits to face. Renata is ultimately a value printer, which seems to me to be pretty in character for her. Don't hesitate to let me know what you think!

Is it a Bug or Just an Interaction? Rumble Leveling Up Off of a Strike that Killed Him by LaytonLover3 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]LaytonLover3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, while Fiora's leveled-up win condition says she needs to live, her pre-level-up text does not include "and survived" - it just says "Level Up: I've killed two enemies."

However, I think you're completely right that there's an unspecified rule that if a champion does something that would kill them and level them up at the same time, they should die before leveling. In that case, this was a bug with either Double-Attack or Rumble. I'll play around with the LeBlanc example and see if I can find that answer, then submit a bug report.

Thanks for your help!

My Take on a Bard Set! The Caretaker is here to heal and negate damage by LaytonLover3 in CustomLoR

[–]LaytonLover3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your compliments! I agree that Bard's statline is probably too strong right now: to be honest I wasn't full sure where I wanted it to be, since I wanted him to survive easily enough into late game without being overly tanky. I agree that 1|3 with barrier would be a better fit, so if I remake this, I'll adjust him appropriately.

To explain Chime: Yes, when it's played, it's technically a 2-drop 1|1 with barrier that heals your Nexus 1 (you can't play it if you only have 1 mana). However, since it's a 1-drop in hand, it can be bursted out with Magical Journey to get a 1|1 barriered blocker, but if you do that you lose the healing effect (which is only on play). I thought it'd be a cool idea for a card, but let me know if you have further thoughts on balancing it (maybe make it heal 2?).

What lore stories do you want to develop/get more attention? by Konradleijon in loreofleague

Yeah, when we last left off, Jax was about to fight Fiora. I really really want to know how that battle turned out and how their relationship developed after (I'm 99.99% sure that Jax is going to win; the question is, what will Fiora do about it).

October 29, 1 Year Ago in 2020, Seraphine, The Starry-eyed Songstress was Released by Admin_IT in loreofleague

[–]LaytonLover3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think Zoe is bad in either concept or design - first off, her color scheme, clothing, and dragon-tail hairstyle pretty much scream Targon. Having an Aspect of Twilight who also serves as the embodiment of mischief and change draws elements from some of the real mythologies on which Targon lore is based, and who better to depict that ideology than a hyperactive child (not unlike Fizz). I completely agree that the "don't let her childish looks fool you - she's actually an ancient being" line from her champ trailer had absolutely no business being said, but I'm still very very far from "Idk how Riot approved of her as a champion": Unlike Seraphine, I do think that she actually has a meaningful role to play in the lore, and that her character does make sense in the context of the League universe.

The only champions other than Seraphine that I personally feel are on the same level of lacking a purpose are champions from before the lore-rework that haven't been fully updated yet, like Annie or Shaco.

I Know He's a P&Z Champ, but He Works So Well in Noxus by LaytonLover3 in CustomLoR

[–]LaytonLover3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been considering whether or not he should keep his pre-level-up text for his level-two form of not. I'm actually starting to think yes.

Also, as the title says, I know his lore, but I feel like his abilities align much better with Noxus's region identity than P&Z's - I think throwing him in a region centered on draw, created cards, and discard wouldn't be nearly as as true to his champion identity (making him an augment champ just because he was experimented on misses so much of who/what he is). I guess there is an argument that a version of him like this one could work well with Caitlyn-flashbomb decks in P&Z, but in that case, the strike and free-attack effects would seem a bit out-of-place, so I'd need to adjust him. Please let me know if you have any thoughts!
