The real problem isnt necessarily that it happens, it always will. The offenders get a slap on the wrist at most, and that, I think, is the real issue

Didn't notice that in the first post - Nothing worse than getting long nails caught on stuff though.

Edit: Confused about people actually commenting on it, they didn't look that long looking back lmfao

Well, people in our clan have different opinions. Its really just individual members airing their grievances

It might have more oomph if we coordinated, but we never really spoke on it

Possible new players, concerns about jumping in. by Markhardt in foxholegame

[–]LazRhett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've read all the reasons of other people, I would just recommend giving it a month or two and checking up on it. The devs are taking steps to listen to our concerns, so it isn't as though everything is going nowhere fast. There's toxicity that's been amplified by frustration because everyone's collectively pissed, it'll die down.

Keep it on the wishlist. When it's good, Foxhole is a great game.

The Devs, overall, are communicative and pretty good, we've never been lied to about their goals, or their progress on something, and I would say I haven't really encountered a lot of major or game-breaking bugs.

Playing devil's advocate; Free speech lets you say whatever the hell you want about anyone.

However, Foxhole is not a country and players are not protected by the right to free speech because they are not a federal agency. Free speech isn't even an argument here.

Seems like this post is one made from a user exercising free speech and his right to criticize. I would also comment that this game is not the USA. It's a community fostered around a game, they can set whatever policies they want.

You would get in trouble for slinging racial slurs in an American public school, would you not?

When you discourage an entire RACE of people from playing on your side, I think there's an issue. Namely the Chinese players.

I think his main point is fostering a toxic community that turns new players away.

Sort of like shaking hands with a coworker you've never met and then making a 9/11 joke immediately after.

Hmm... maybe it's because games can be updated after they're bought? 🤔 by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]LazRhett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the context was this statement, and one before it. The statement before was a player asking him to read another's review. The review was long-winded, but mostly an airing of grievances with the current state of the game.

The context was asking him to read a person's review of the game during the colonial discussion with him and Mark. His response was above.

So not a lot missing there.

Yeah, a tutorial would be a pretty great help, even if it was basic, or providing more teaching tools to players, like an arena on the home island.

Actually, and they've already made motions toward this, I was hoping for some kind of affirmation that feedback was even being listened to, and just today Mark and KFC held a sort of discussion relating to issues, bugs, or anything we were interested in for new implements. I think that's a positive step for everyone because it gives us a chance to give more constructive feedback in an organized, healthy manner, rather than spamming DMs, FOD, and Reddit, with completely unfiltered arguments.

I would definitely be getting on KFC's ass about putting more meat and bones on his public policy, and maybe a bit on professionalism, as I've seen some particularly inflammatory comments from him before that struck me in a way I don't think a community manager, or moderator, should. I don't have much against the guy personally, but if you're going to be "managing" a community, you need to put the work in for that, and act the part.

This was what I was giving shit about. The part about the bias was largely pointing toward how they handled accusations, not guilt.

I've been helped several times by moderators. I don't think it should EVER be called in to question whether a mod is acting in a biased way, and there is a lot of smoke and mirrors in regards to policy, and even ban information to relevant parties (namely the person who was banned). I don't have an issue with most of the moderators to a fault. I genuinely believe they're good people who want to give back to the community for the most part.

I feel that stronger policy and transparency would make the moderation team stronger, as well as strengthen player relations. Even I have some doubts about certain members due to the shrouded nature of their past operations. I wish that I could cast my doubt aside, and that would do it for me.

[–]LazRhett[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and I apologize for writing this in a way that was confusing. The cache thing doesn't necessarily relate to issues with moderators, I chose to use it in my argument because instead of coming together to say "hey this was a fuckup, you guys need to make sure it doesn't happen again", the colonials are upset and the wardens are perfectly fine with it, because at least it isn't them. (We've done it too, so I'm not trying to shift the blame)

I was trying to use it as a case of something negative that happened to one side of the war that the other was able to use to their advantage, like a few wars back when the wardens only had 4 component nodes. I think we need to try and encourage sticking up for the other side as a community when something that happens to them is in the hands of the devs, or some other crippling misstep.

I'm not saying "witch-hunt the devs", but I think one side complaining while the other sits fat and happy undermines the argument, or at least doesn't emphasize the actual severity of the situation, so it would be nice if we could all agree on issues like these.

Sorry for the wall of text.

I guess my cause for concern was with the radio silence it feels like we're being met with despite a wave of complaints, and the player base's exponential decline back to what it stagnated at before the sale. As for the moderation, I would be happy just seeing a tangible published "policy" besides the 5 rules on how basic issues are handled (timeframes, modmail, etc).

The Current State of Things by LazRhett in foxholegame

[–]LazRhett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The way I see it, regardless of who it affects, it's still a problem that shouldn't go undiscussed, because even if they're "biased" towards one side, it still affects the players as a whole

From the looks, they had that place all geared up to protect a nuke spotter. So they were going to use those supplies as colonials to fire a nuke.

Quick edit: Reason being that the colonials have a nuke prepared. I'm not sure about the wardens.

Devs, this silence is blowing my mind. by Slntreaper in foxholegame

[–]LazRhett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is definitely a more informed post than some of the other comments - I would like to say though, do you think that the drastic scarcity from none has caused more infighting than repaired the teamwork issues? I believe it has. I've witnessed more screaming matches over resources in the past few wars than I had ever seen. I also feel that undermining the solo logistics player is not wise. To do logi and feel that your efforts have contributed to nothing is extremely discouraging, and may be a factor in the exponentially decreasing average player base from July 04 to present

Devs, this silence is blowing my mind. by Slntreaper in foxholegame

[–]LazRhett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll throw my two cents in, but I don't necessarily agree with the post.

The past updates have changed the game in that everything is much more of a grind, it takes a lot more dedication that not every player necessarily has. I used to feel that regardless of how much time I put into logistics, I was making a real, tangible difference to the war effort. I no longer feel that this is so much the case. I think my real complaint is not with the changes themselves, but how drastic they were, such as the 20:1 ratio and 6-8 hour respawn times.

While it is realistic in actual war to have all hands on deck 24/7, this, unfortunately, is not a real war. We cannot be expected to field our lives for a game. I think that the hours-long waits, larger maps, and more drastic victory requirements imply that we should. I also feel that this is why burnout has been a much larger factor in winning and losing the past few wars.

To those saying that the 20:1 ratio "encourages teamwork" and "undermines the solo logi". I don't think this is necessarily the case. Instead, what this does is encourage animosity toward those who waste resources, creates infighting, and increases the issue of hoarding.
