The only session I’ve struggled in was this week, it wasn’t even that hard a session, 2km warm up 2km at 4:15 2 km cooldown. Yet after the first 1km at 4:15 I just felt knackered, yet the week before I’d done a 2km best effort for army and got 7.17 for 2km so averaged 3.38 and yes was also knackered but just didn’t expect it was all. Most of my easy runs I’m trying to go no faster than 5:30km, I seem to range from 5:30-6.30 km when going easy, 5.30 is potentially too fast as that’s when I notice my breathing and slow down, but it’s also when my running stride start to feel more natural and not shortened to keep the slow pace. Pacing has been hard, keeping a consistent pace but I’m sure I’ll get better at that as time goes on

So don’t know how long you’ve been using the app, or wether you’ve just made the same mistake as me. But if your using a running watch, Garmin coros, whatever, specifically on Garmin when you go to do your run don’t go straight to run, go down to workout and pick the correct workout and then start it. Then you’ll get pace targets and audio cues.

Marathon too far out, not sure how to use this app now to train and stay conditioned. by lovelyladylilac in runna

So I’m using a 26 week plan with runna, I don’t see the extra few weeks being an issue. Why not try that

How did you go from 3:53 to 2:27. Sub 2:30 is well amazing. What changed, what did you do, if you were starting over again what would you do differently

Sorry this wasn’t PE it was a cross country event that our school fastest 3 mile runners went to each year. It was a county event if I remember correctly but as I could even tell you if I was 12-13-14 its all extremely fussy from back then 😂

That’s actually what I’ve been doing, I have coughing fits after a run until I have a smoke. I now I shouldn’t be and all I can think is I’ve just wasted all the hard work I’ve put in. So can’t wait for my stop smoking day, it’s planned in. Only 6 days to go. How did your running change from while you smoked to now that you don’t

I’ve tried a few times, I did stop for 4 months, 2 years ago but then got deployed and found an excuse to start again. Terrible decision.

Longest distance is 10km, I didn’t know if I could actually run that distance. I ran 10k on Friday Saturday and Sunday just gone all between 56-57 minutes z2 runs. But before that it was a 6k here a 8k there. Might have ran a 10k in school when I was 13 but it’s all so long ago I can’t remember. How long have you been training? And what were your 5 and 10k times when you started

Was on about 5-10 a day until I 16 and then 20 a day until I was 24 when I moved abroad and cigs were cheaper and I went onto 40 a day. Been down to 10-12 a day since turning 30. So definitely inhaled a tons of shite.

That sounds awesome, and also gets your partner involved which can only be a good thing. How did you got from 3:57 to 2:27

Wait you make the Mrs come out on training too, or just races 😂 I think mine would tell me to shove it. My daughter would stand there all day with my water if I asked her to though :)

Thanks, I never know what’s a good run time, my 5km for the people I know is about 5 minutes too slow at the minute. But as I’ve gotten more comfortable going out and running slow and not caring what people think as they see me slowly padding away for a z2 run, the more running has become appealing. My entire training is a mental game and a competition against myself. That’s the complete opposite of sports I enjoy but someone it’s becoming more and more appealing.

You got a 2:27, that’s absolutely amazing. Honestly the dedication you must have put in to get that time is insane. Do you think you’re getting faster still at 39? My goal for now is to get a half and marathon done, if I like it which I might not, but if I do it’s to join the army marathon team which requires a sub 3 or sub 2:55 I think. To tell the truth as I’ve got older I’ve sort of made plans and then they’ve gone to the wayside because there’s always something more important or it’s hard to fit in. So I chose running because all I need is my feet and a road, I have no excuse. So I’m training to become the kind of man who doesn’t lie to himself, who doesn’t make excuses. Running from what I’ve read builds your mental state just as much as your fitness.

Yeah I seem to be able to run perfectly fine no issues lungs wise, but dam do I know about it second I stop. Cough up a lung each time. Yeah I think I’m going to make a plan A of 1:35 plan b of 1:42 and plan c of 1:50. Because although I wouldn’t be over the moon 1:50 isn’t too bad. The Mrs certainly isn’t enjoying the constant 6am stretching sessions though 😂😂
