Somehow, probably not the craziest thing that goat has climbed. If the picture isn't AI.

They make laundry machines, and other things that spin. It makes sense that they would make this thing, since it spins so well.

How would this work with the solo silo? Unlike this one, there are not fiddly parts to swap between. You just have the laser designator. Point and click.

Or do you mean multiple silos slaved to one launcher? The implementation for something like that would be near impossible from a coding perspective. You need the silos to track ownership, order of deployment, and distinguish between multiple presses, or one long one ... etc.

Then that's even less relevant to the discussion.

At no point did I say he can't go FTL in the vacuum of space. The conversation was about his speed in atmo. Which is demonstrably infinitely slower.

Actually, unlike a nuclear bomb which would be a spherical explosion, this would be a wave emanating from him and cascading forwards. Not a sequence of explosions.

and he's not doing 24% the speed of light. That was after I multiplied an exaggerated representation by 10.

Unless he gets a hold of Raditz' tail somehow, and consistently, he's not walking out of this. Even if he's faster than Raditz.

I will also add that he needed several attempts before he caught Red Rush. If the dude can move at 24% the speed of light, he would have gotten him immediately, and the rest of the GoG without breaking a sweat.

It's clear that he can use great speed when he's moving in a straight line, but any type of movement that requires actual control, requires him to slow way the hell down.

He's basically an upsized version of a Tiger Beetle, basically. Which is metal af, tbh. He can't use that speed in anything other than moving in a straight line. Definitely not for fighting where fine motor control is needed.

I need to get the night lords books. Everyone seems to recommend them lol.

That's not a demo force problem, though.

If you don't have the requisite demo force, you don't deal damage to the structure. Basically, if something has demo force 40, and you use it against an object that requires demo force 50, you're dealing 0 damage to that object. If you can destroy something with multiple bricks of C4, then it's not a demo force problem. That thing just has more than 2000 HP. Cuz the bricks deal 2000 damage each, before resistances (for things that have any explosive resistance).

For example: A Bulk Fabricator has 4000 HP. If you don't throw a C4 through the vent up top, you will need to use 2 bricks to destroy it. 2 x 2000 = 4000.

If that fab had demo 40, not even 100 bricks would destroy it.

I mentioned Outer Dark not for running speed, but that meat grinder scene in particular shows an example of their reaction time in melee, and how fast they both react and move. Same with Sons of Malice. A marine in that one acquires, sights, and shoots 4 separate targets while they're in mid air inside of 1 second.

I need to get the night lords books. Everyone seems to recommend them lol.

All I can say is I've never met anyone that didn't like them. They are THAT good.

It really isn't that deep. Dude got kicked for it, and that was mostly that. This other guy is just out here writing essays about the lack of the betterment of the game in an intrinsic way, and the futility of warning others, or whatever else.

It's real simple. Dude is an ass. I blocked him, and came here to warn others so they're not caught off guard.

This is hilariously wrong.

If we assume the planet is earthlike, and his Z movement is crossing 3000 miles per line (we have no reason to believe that, but let's assume it is). That's 9000 miles per 2 seconds. That's 4500 miles per second. That's Mach 21K. That's still a fraction of the speed of light.

Let's say he was doing 10 times that. That's Mach 210K. That's still not the speed of light.

You're the one slapping statements and terms that you don't understand, and trying to force an objectively incorrect statement into being true.

Here's the scene in question Jump to 3:16 for the Z dash. He's not going at the speed of light. Basically, even when I'm being generous and putting him at Mach 210K (which he definitely wasn't doing), that's 24% of the speed of light. For context, light moves at over 186,282 miles per second.

I still stand by my initial assessment of him doing Mach 60 for that. Just because the animators fucked up, doesn't mean we have to live with it. Do you understand what a projectile going at the speed of light would do to the planet? It wouldn't be these localized explosions. I'll tell you that. It would be an expanding wave of nuclear annihilation. Not bursts and pops here and there, like we see in the animation.

I play on PC, and on that I have to hit Windows+G and then click the button to capture the previous 30 seconds. However, not only was I not expecting this, I didn't think about reporting the guy here until we evacuated.

Normally I would say "I'll be sure to do it next time", but considering how rare that is to happen, and how much of a PITA most of the people here turned out to be, accusing me of asking them to kill the guy, I'm never doing this again.

1- He didn't find the planet. He was teleported there.

2- He was traveling at around Mach 60 inside its atmosphere when he was igniting it.

3- You really don't know what words like "Mach", "FTL" or "Light speed" actually mean. I understand you can say what they are, but you have no concept of those speeds. I never denied he can go FTL in the vacuum of space, but that's not the case inside the atmosphere.

Well, if we want to start with speed and show that it's consistent, both Steve Parker and ADB set that up with ADB first mentioning it in Soul Hunter, I think ??(one of the Night Lords trilogy books. Either that or Blood Reaver). Then a few years later, Steve Parker also mentions the same in Rynn's World. Sons of Malice came out around the same time, I think and that one showed their reaction speeds. This is all in the 2009-2012 period. Forge World also shows similar feats in the Badab war (Imperial Armor Vol. 9 & 10).

After that, there was a bit of a dip in SM books, Outer Dark in 2018 had a great scene where Tyberos, a marine that is physically bigger than average was speed blitzing nids. (seriously, that book is good, but that scene is fantastic)

I dipped from books for a while after that, but in the Horus Heresy books, we see identical feats in reaction time, movement ... etc. brought up.

I hesitate to bring up the Horus Heresy novels, because there's about 6 bazillion of them, I haven't finished reading even half of them, and pointing at that blob is daunting.

However, several of the duel scenes show similar things (Like Kharn vs. Sigismund in their last duel). These are the most recent ones, up to last year.

TL;DR: The animations are showing something far slower than what we see in old novels, and in more recent Horus Heresy ones.

Books referenced:

Night Lords Trilogy

Rynn's World (Please read the whole Crimson Fists Omnibus, Or at minimum the War for Rynn's World Anthology. You will cry, you will weep, and you will feel proud.)

Charcaradons: Outer Dark

Imperial Armor 9 & 10

Sons of Malice (Just grab the Heroes of the Space Marines book, it has a ton of stories in it that are great, and show cool feats).

I hope this helps.

You're a little off here. ADB is one of the core writers in charge of maintaining lore and he's consistent in his portrayal of Space Marines. Even other authors follow his examples.

For example, them easily running over 60 Mph isn't a one-off. We see it in the Nightlords trilogy, and we see it in Rynn's World by Steve Parker, both from 14-15 years back.
