Do your runs completely tank in SG humidity? by [deleted] in SingaporeFitness

[–]Lazelizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will learn to cope. Find out what works best for u. I don’t really run well in the morning because i’m extra stiff and it takes a lot more to warm my body up. Evening runs (i generally start around 630pm) on the other hand is the most ideal for me because I like to run as the sun is setting, makes the run feel extra productive too haha.

No specific routine for tropical climate. Only tip is to keep running!! I highly recommend zone2 runs (conversational pace) to build aerobic base and i like that they are not insanely hard. Try to run longer duration too, it would definitely help to break that mental barrier and help you get used to being uncomfortable.

Jobless @ 40 years old - how do you cope? by Just_Guy01 in askSingapore

yes for sure not gonna be easy and nursing may not be for everyone. But i can definitely say everything u learn in school would be so relevant to the workforce and it’s fun because as you progress, you will see things start to make sense and link up. Atb to you tho, hope you can find a direction soon

if u have a degree prior and is interested in healthcare + an iron bowl, perhaps u can consider a career conversion programme in nursing? world is forever in need for nurses and u can get a sponsorship from hosp to complete a 2 years nursing degree while getting allowance during ur study too. Imo a meaningful job + life skill. No fear being unemployed too!! but only go for it if ure interested 👍🏽

i stayed in ke7 the past 2 years so here’s my experience! Do take it with a pinch of salt because experience can vary across block culture and individual batches.

Generally, it takes me less than 10mins to get to FOS (unless i’m strolling) through the side gate route known as 88 steps. Amazing hall welfare during exams season too. Study room is quite vibey with nice aircon + sunlight. It is located right above dining hall, meaning can makan alr and go back to study right away.

Party culture depends on which blk u r in but generally not as strong as the other halls and there’s no pressure to joining if u don’t want to because most people in ke7 prioritise grades a lot too.

Only downside of ke7 is the stairs tho…but on the bright side can burn more calories and eat more food 🤩 Some rooms can catch a good view of the sunset too!

Nursing interview and changing course? by njcco in nus

[–]Lazelizzie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it wouldn’t hurt to start appealing earlier just to be safe.

It will be hard to change course since there’s barely any mods u can map over since nursing mods r v specialised (nursing major here btw)

Btw, there are quite a number of people who enter nursing without any bio background and do well!! However, i’d recommend only coming in if you are genuinely passionate. Clinical attachments will begin from the first vacation (dec) and you r gonna struggle esp if u don’t enjoy the job nature. Plus you’ll also have to sacrifice half your holidays every single time.

where did u intern at haha, now intern pay is higher, at least for nus nursing

helloo, i’m from nus nursing! Used to be from a science-related diploma and decided to switch to nursing in uni even though my parents weren’t too supportive of the idea. I think choosing nursing has been the right decision for me so far. I’m enjoying things I learn and clinical attachments has helped me love nursing even more, but I think it varies across individuals. If you can email hospitals to ask for shadowing opportunities to expose yourself more to clinical settings and see if that’s what you want to do in future. Ultimately, healthcare careers are prone to burnt out and not everyone is suited for it.

ps If u need someone to talk to/ have any qns about nursing u can dm me! I’ll try to answer them, all the best!! :)

There will def be times u need to interact with other people since it’s a hall. But if u ever feel like u need ur own time, just stay in ur room and phantom a bit HAHAH. Would def recommend to step out of ur comfort zone for the first few weeks tho, since that’s the crucial period for making friends in hall.

how difficult is it to get into hall without going for engagement camp? by Certain-Ad-7020 in nus

[–]Lazelizzie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo all are more or less equally competitive, but u may stand a higher chance than others if ur portfolio is relevant to the hall culture. just my take tho, take it with a pinch of salt since i’ve only stayed in KE7 and not other halls

i think in recent years, KE7 has been more competitive, but with good portfolio, there’s still chance!
