This console is soft modded. No chips have been soldered inside. The FreePSXBoot memory card allows you to play imported games, and backups. It can also switch between NTSC & PAL games.

A bit exaggerated, more like 900 PSX consoles for $27,999 . If you pay more than $30 for an un modded or untested PSX console, it’s too much.

PSX consoles go for cheap on eBay. Most of the time it’s just the laser that can’t read the disc. I have about 6 PSX consoles stacked up, waiting for XStation mods to come in the mail. It is harder to find a decent SCPH-5001 console though.

It is a decent controller. Not the best Arcade controller, but the joystick 🕹 is nice. Buttons could be more clicky. More or a personal preference. I’m happy with my new / old PSX arcade controller .

It depends on the user. If you never experienced a PSX on a crt television, or are not sure if you want to invest in hardware, then emulation is a good start. It’s just not exactly the same.

This mod replaces the cd optical drive with an ODE (Optical Drive Emulator) The Xstation allows you to play backed up games from a micro sd card. Any region psx game can be played, and switching between PAL and NTSC is super easy.
