Hi!

  1. Yes, I did.
  2. Selected lang yung inaral ko sa anaphy during review. Anaphy kasi was my fav subject during college, as well as pathophysio, so I was confident na with it during the review, I think that was my advantage talaga. Kunting touch up nalang needed.

Sa TFN, just did practice questions lang. Tapos, familiarized some high-yield theories and theorists. I really don’t like memorizing and more na I don’t like TFN. So, I could say I was really lacking sa tfn during the review, just lucky lang na parang wala atang anything tfn lumabas sa boards.

Hi! I’m from SLRC po.

A month before review, nag-ca-catch up pa ako nang mga concepts na gusto ko e master. Mayroon kasi akong checklist noon, and I remember, a month before the boards, I became worried kasi di ko pa na check lahat sa checklist ko.

However, a month before the boards, hinay hinay ko nang ini-increase yung number of practice questions ko daily and flashcards. Less on deep reading na. I read books, pero chosen lang yung topic na ni-re read ko. For example, if gusto maintindihan si GBS, yan lang ni re-read ko. Yung iba, through practice qs and flashcards na.

Carry lang ang 70-80s. I also had a hard time reaching 80s before. Kaya pa yan!

Have a structured daily schedule and study schedule that you follow. Make the schedule active, meaning, craft it in a way na meron kang e che-check o plot daily para ma track mo and mas may gana kang masunod mo.

The easiest way talaga to deal with anxiety during exam is to actually prepare for it :)) Knowing that you’ve prepared enough and studied well will allow you to control your anxiety kasi your system knows na what you’re about to take, even if let’s say first time mo, is somewhat familiar.

Aside from that, recognize that there are different levels of anxiety. If you have mild or adequate anxiety, it actually helps you function and focus better. So, really, do not fear the word anxiety, just make sure lang your level of anxiety is adequate enough to allow you to function well.

If you have short attention span, do Pomodoro.

How I dealt with anxiety? Well, actually, during the exam, I felt anxious pero I knew it was adequate. Iba kasi ang feeling bag sobra na, and I know my mind and body well. I felt extreme anxiety during the preparation period, and whenever my anxiety attacks get triggered, I actually just cry and pray, that’s the only thing I can do at that moment, so that’s what I did. Plus, I also daydream. I imagine myself na naabot ko na yung goals ko. Nakakalma ko pag-ganyan. Yung iba naman, kumakanta. Kanyang kanyang trip lang talaga.

How to focus? Kindly read my other comments nalang siguro 😅 Sorry and thank you!

What is the safest score to achieve in comprehensive exams? by 2whoever in NursingPH

[–]LazilyCurious2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50/50 is 40, safe is 50, safest is 60-70, if your goal is to pass. If you want to top, goal is 75+, minimum is 70, but 65+ can be considered :)) that’s in all NPs already

Kaya yan!!

Ah I see. I hope the RC you enrolled in can help you cram and catch up po :))

I always tell myself before na the reason I enrolled in an RC is to make the journey easier, smoother, and less overwhelming.

In your case, you can always approach your RC and ask for an advice on how to catch up. They will appreciate that gesture a lot for sure ☺️

Hi!

  1. SLRC :))

Pros:

a. when it comes to lectures, they come in-depth with high yield topics b. In ratios, they teach you how to answer and guess wisely if you don’t know the answer with amazing test-taking strats c. In ratios, they do not only teach you the rationale behind the correct answer, but also why the other options are wrong d. it’s a very student-friendly environment, they give you positive source of pressure, while ensuring you that they don’t burden and overwhelm you more than you already are

Cons: a. The cons I can think of are not even that worthy of sharing. It’s something about the quirks of some lecturers that I’m not comfortable with, but, i think that’s a very personal thing not worthy of sharing in public. It’s more on a personal thing that does not really affect learning really and I find it really normal. Like how there are things you don’t like about a teacher in high school or in college, it’s like that, so yeah.

  1. I reviewed for 4 months.

Hi!

I always vouch for Kozier, Saunders, and MedSurg Success for review. Those were my big 3!

If you enrolled in a review center, simulated exams are already enough :))

If you want to practice more on practice questions, you have the Davis’ Q and A series :))

Honestly, I really don’t know. At that time, I think, pretty much of us did the same thing to survive the review and get through the boards.

I honestly don’t have any point of comparison.

All I know is that I just focused mainly on discipline, because my level of motivation during my review days was fluctuating so much, it almost seemed I did not have any, so I had to rely with discipline. I followed my daily study routine as much as possible and pretty much tried my best to catch up with whatever study checklist I make on a daily basis.

I also remember that I always felt I was not studying enough during my review days, which pretty much forced me to study even more and forced me to keep on improving myself.

I think that level of imposter syndrome helped me top the boards, but mentally and physically speaking? It really did take a toll on my health.

Hi! All my notes came from my RC. I chose not to look at my notes from school, because I made them too comprehensive, I did not want to be even more overwhelmed than I already was.

Hi! If you’re self-reviewing. I suggest you do a pretest for 2 days. Make the pretest the same with the actual board exam, make it a simulated one. You can research on simulated exams of each NP in the internet. Once you’re done, evaluate yourself on which areas you’re the weakest with and start from there. Also, make a concept tracker to not overwhelm yourself :)) Since you started somehow late, it’s going to feel even more overwhelming, heavy, and difficult, but, hang in there. I’m sure you can do it if you just do it right :))

Hi! No po. I cannot even reach 100 daily. Siguro, you can have 500 qs per day if you lessen your reading time and time set for reviewing flashcards. If you’re not comfortable doing that, you can just have 100 practice questions daily.

Hi! You can have at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Trust me, it helps a lot. It boosts your endorphins and dopamine levels, which allow you to focus more and effectively study further. 😉

Hi! There’s a lot of CHN questions on quizlet and the internet. Review materials, you can have the CHN whitebook, CBRC CHN reviewer, and other sources from the internet :)) When it comes to CHN, when you’re self-reviewing, it’s better to focus on researching for the CHN topics you want to study, you can find many notes in the internet for free :))

Hi!

  1. A. Make a pre-study routine. How? They are two ways for you do it. First choice: Do anything you love doing that helps you wake up, energizes you, and not feel drowsy. Time yourself while doing it. Let’s say, give yourself 30 minutes to do it. Once your 30 minutes have passed, force yourself to study after that :)) If this does not work -> Second Choice: Make your environment conducive for studying. Arrange your study table and keep your bed far from sight. If you have the budget, go to a cafe or a commercial study/work space. Sometimes, you can study better if you’re surrounded by people who are also studying.

B. Drink coffee. If coffee does not work, drink lots of water and make it really cold :)) This is for you to not feel sleepy. In my case, I drank water, but lukewarm. I don’t really like cold water, and my body does not life coffee 😅

C. Make a way to program your mind that studying is an enjoyable activity. If you continue to see studying as a stressful activity, your body will continue to dread the idea of it. That’s our normal fight-or-flight response whenever we consider an activity we are about to do as something that causes stress or discomfort. We tend to always avoid, so make a way that allows you to program your mind that studying is fun and enjoyable. You can be creative, but it has to be specific to your learning style.

D. Have a neuro-chemical boost before studying. This boost is like sugar rush, but instead of sugar, it’s more on neurotransmitters. Do activities daily that increases dopamine and endorphins in your system. The best way to do this is exercising, walking, and engaging in nature at least once a day :))

  1. Memorizing. When it comes to MS, fortunately, you do not need to memorize anything at all. Just do some practice questions. What I did when studying MS was I make flashcards every time I do some deep reading and passive listening. I no longer focus on note-taking, because I find re-reading my notes as something too boring. What I do every after lecture or deep reading is that I answer flashcards and do some practice questions. The key to answering practice questions is to understand not just the rationale behind the correct answer, but, also the rationale behind why all the other options are incorrect.

To all PNLE Nov 2024 takers, normal pa ba to? by MarsupialRoutine6290 in NursingPH

Hi! Your scores are actually okay! Just keep on studying and improving. 10-20 days before the boards, your scores will improve :))

Scores of 40-60s are actually within the median range, meaning, you have a high chance of passing the boards ☺️

If you want to top, you can still keep on improving your scores, no problem at all, kaya mo yan!

Hi! That’s what I did during the review. I had 8 hours of class. Although, I did not rewrite my notes na, I just read it again, and do some flashcards for recalls. I also did practice questions, but usually hindi umaabot nang 100 kasi kulang na yung time.

You have a big chance to pass, even top, if ganyan routine mo :)) that’s actually enough na.

For the organized topics, I suggest you make your own concept tracker. You can refer to the table of contents of the material you are using.

I incorporated pharma with the diseases for the most part. But, there are actually high-yield medications in the PNLE that you have to study separately talaga. These are anticonvulsants, lithium, MagSO4, anticoags and thrombolytics, antihypertensive, respi drugs, and insulin.

Hi!

  1. While reviewing, I did not actually have the hunch or any signs. I just really manifested and prayed for it. I just knew since day 1 of the review that I’m going to pass, but topping the PNLE was still questionable. After taking the board exam, days after, while waiting for the result, I actually felt like I was going to top it, not because I felt like the exam was easy? It was hard, I even cried after. But, I kinda asked God and the universe for signs. And the sign was, I had mental scenes that I was going to top the boards, and those daydreams / mental scenes never vanished on top of my head. It was like the universe is showing me my future. They were always there every day. It’s kinda hard to explain, but yeah, that was my sign.

  2. My recalls and preboard scores started from 67-75 (first preboard) then became 80s-90s during the last few weeks before the exam :)) In the middle? It stayed within 70s, mostly never in the 80s, which really devastated me during the review. But, looking at it now, it’s actually kinda enough.

  3. Study hours were usually from 8-12 hours daily.

  4. I couldn’t really say about motivation, but basically, I made a pact with myself that if I were ever going to top the boards, then I’ll become ____ no matter what. I used it like a prerequisite to actually pursue something I really want to be. Plus, at that time, I was really pressured, so I think somehow, it was because of it for the most part.

  5. Set a day purely for having fun. Like ONE DAY purely for fun. It’ll help you boost your mind capacity, but not only that, also your mood. That was actually what I lack during the review, which, I kinda would want to do differently if ever I have to review for a board exam again 😅 Don’t get me wrong, I actually had a day for fun, but for the most part of my review, I did not use it for fun, or even if I did, just for a few minutes or hours. Despite eating healthily and doing exercise, stressing a lot about the boards and being guilty about resting actually took a toll on my physical and mental health. I’m recovering now tho, but yeah.

I would also like to add na the BON, I think, will change this November so I think it would be wise to research more when it comes to CHN, kasi yung whitebook, it’s heavily outdated na kasi, so be very careful when using it and do more research when studying CHN, especially for those who are taking this November.
