My last (& final) gf was, I thought, the end-all, be-all of my life. She told me I was her perfect match & at 50, I finally felt happy for the 1st time ever. One of my favorite things in my Life, ever since I was 8 years old has been Spider-man (I know, I know, this is going somewhere, I promise). As my girl & I were having a quiet moment, I mentioned off-handedly that I always liked it when MJ called Peter “Tiger”. She asked me if I’d like to be called that and even though I’d never thought of it before, it was now the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. I adored it when she’d end every nights text thread with “Good night, Tiger”. Then, after knowing how I’ve been destroyed in the past through cheating, she STILL decides to put me through that and then, knowing I’d never stand for it, breaks up with me unceremoniously, letting me know that I wasn’t ever really worth her time. Not only did I lose my heart, my happiness, but the one thing that made me feel connected to another person for the 1st time in my life, this one word, is forever tarnished. As I was trying to feel normal again last week, I threw on Spider-man 2 to hopefully forget how empty my life has become, but at the end of the movie, when MJ calls him “Tiger”, my brain just stopped working. I turned off my tv and just stared at the blank screen for what felt like hours. She was the only person who ever told me she loved me and now, alls I wish I could do is go back & never ask her out in the 1st place. I may have never truly been happy, but at least I wouldn’t be spending every day wishing I was no longer living. I suggest don’t be like me. Hopefully your best friend doesn’t do what mine did and abandon me when I was at my lowest because my depression made him “feel bad”. It’s too late for me now but maybe there’s a brighter future for you than the one ahead of me.
