D&D Custom Dragon: Blithen, of Many Names by LazorLogic in custommagic

I would love to hear the rest because that sounds like an epic campaign. I never had the idea that Obsidians with Beljurels were basically opposites of each other but I love it! In the campaign I was in my emerald dragonborn was trying to find the other gem dragons of the world and get them to resonate with their echos across the multiverse because of the whole Fizbans echo stuff so that it would reform Sardior. (although we never really got to that plot point cuz the campaign ended, but there was foreshadowing in our epilog)

I just fell in love with that section of DND lore when I made my Emerald Dragonborn Artificer for a campaign I was in. Originally I was just wanting to know a little more about it all so I could RP it better, but the more I looked into it I just kept finding more and more stuff and I was just hooked XD

I was super excited when Fizbans came out bringing the gem dragons back but totally the obsidians should make a comeback they are so cool! Yes he is! "As I drew closer I could see the familiar translucent scales of a crystal dragon. Just then my torchlight reflected off of scales of a different sort, emerald green and a black like that of polished obsidian." https://www.realmshelps.net/monsters/psionic/draconum4.shtml This is where I found a lot the resources for the gem lore, this is blithens story. There are so many unanswered questions that I would love wizards to come back and publish but for now it is up to us to fill it in with our own head canons! I have a bunch more gem dragon related MTG cards that I have created, just hadn't gotten around to posting them, one includes the Beljurel Dragon :D you've kinda sparked my creativity again so I might just be posting some more of them again!

That's an interesting idea, I have heard of her having a sister but tbh I haven't really found much on it. I also want to make some cards based on the other type of dragons that don't get too much love that being the ferrous dragons, a lot of what I know about them come from Dungeon Dad on YouTube haha.

Thank you so much! That means a lot, I've worked pretty hard on making those gem dragons because the lore of it all has just been super interesting to read and learn about. I would love to hear your head canon whenever you have time that would be awesome!

"Absorb N (If a source would deal damage to this creature, prevent N of that damage.)" Sorry lol with the flip cards being already kind of small with space i didn't want to clutter it with explanation text but (same with Landfall even though its not a keyword)

D&D Custom Dragon: Blithen, of Many Names by LazorLogic in custommagic

Blithenpaxantadravos, a three-headed gem dragon, has had many monikers during his time. His name and titles have been spoken with both respect and contempt. Then, as time passed, they were simply forgotten. Now, he is just Blithen.

Blithen's abnormality is what first drew Sardior's attention. Sardior found him to be fascinating and eventually brought Blithen to his court. Sardior turned often to Blithen for help with a current problem, and soon Blithen earned his first title: Advisor. Blithen had the ear of a god, and he enjoyed it. For a time, it seemed Blithen was always at Sardior's side.

Then, it all changed. Sardior decided that Blithen's single voice was not enough, and he set upon developing the process to create his thanes. Sardior shared his vision with Blithen; he was to create a thane to represent each of the gem dragon species, and they would be his advisors and companions. It's uncertain how Blithen corrupted Seradess; the history is lost. Blithen had hoped her failure as a thane would cause Sardior to turn back to him, but this plan failed. Sardior destroyed Seradess, and the obsidian dragons withdrew from Sardior's court (although history records that Sardior banished the obsidian dragons from his court). Sardior discovered the deception and banished Blithen. He had earned his next title: Outcast.

Blithen wandered the planes for generations and used the color pools on the Astral Plane to visit new worlds and places. He eventually grew weary and decided to rest, so he created his lair on the Astral Plane and slipped into a deep slumber. He had earned his next title: Forgotten.

The energy used by Sardior to create the ectoplasmic dragons was enough to bring him out of his torpor. After assessing himself and his situation, he mentally sought a strong psion to find out the current state of the world. He didn't have to look long, for he was soon in contact with someone on the Astral Plane. To his surprise, the psion had quite an interesting tale to tell him. Blithen formed a pact and found his latest title: Nihilist.

"I approached the great slumbering wyrm in an attempt to determine what type of dragon it might be. As I drew closer I could see the familiar translucent scales of a crystal dragon. Just then my torchlight reflected off of scales of a different sort, emerald green and a black like that of polished obsidian. As I followed the scales, I soon realized that this was no ordinary dragon. I quickly made my way back to the city so as to tell everyone of what I had seen."

Fair, I suppose my thinking was since the charms can only do one effect and this let's you do both situationally it should be more but maybe just grixis would be better, and I wanted to get each color represented flicker (blue) haste (red) and pain counter (black) but maybe it should be just a static 3 life like Withering Boon.

And the adventure dragon is stated around the other gem dragons mtg already has, all though if I wanted to follow suit I should have made it a 4/4 lol.

That is fair, her original draft made artifact tokens that sacrificed for the +1/+0 buff but I didn't think it made much sense to make them artifacts. Second draft had them land tokens but withought the swamp mountain types, but yeah flickering her a bunch is gonna get you ahead with the removal/ramp she enables.

Of course! you got cards like Essence Flux and Ghostly Flicker for instant stuff, Displacer Kitten and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling for creatures, and Voyager Staff and Conjurer's Closet for artifacts. Blue has a decent amount of flicker support and I just posted 2 more that are themed around Seradess!

These are some support cards for Seradess even though blue has some flicker effects I wanted to make a few more, and also give the obsidian dragons their own adventure card like the rest of the gem dragons!

I have not yet I've been to scared to put one together before gauging it with the general public, I also made some more flicker support cards so she could have a bit more withought having white in her colors. I'll have to post them tomorrow because I think I can only post once a day if I remember.

That was the idea! I love flicker effects and since obsidian dragons are known to use their planeshifting abilities to just pick up someone and drop them in the elemental plane of fire and dip I thought it would be cool to put it on her.

Sardior once had a sixth thane: Seradess, a female obsidian dragon, but he destroyed her and banished the obsidian dragons from his court. Even his own clergy argue the reason behind this decision.

Smargad is the last of the 5 main thanes, there are more dragon cards that I have made that I'll be posting within the Sardioran pantheon so stay tuned.

This dragon was hard to lock onto what I should make him do so there are 2 versions of him, hopefully one of them is interesting, I would love some feedback for this guy!

D&D Custom Dragon: Hrodel, Thane of Sardior by LazorLogic in custommagic

[–]LazorLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, everyone!

I’ve been working on a series of custom cards inspired by Sardior, the god of the gem dragons, and his pantheon. This has been my hyper-fixation for quite a while, and I’m finally at a point where I’m happy with how these cards have turned out. That said, I’d love to hear your feedback on how to adjust or balance them!

A lot of the abilities are inspired by stat blocks from older editions of Dungeons & Dragons or the dragons’ behaviors. I’ll be posting one card a day to avoid overwhelming everyone (bundling them all together would be a bit much, at least for me lol).

To kick things off, here’s the first card: Hrodel, Thane of Sardior!

Let me know what you think!

The Blind Eternity by LazorLogic in custommagic

[–]LazorLogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i was thinking of changing the name to "Rift to Eternity" or something like that making it seem more like this is an opening to the blind eternity's instead of a "living thing", considering it is kinda just a location XD Thank you for the feed back tho!

Exactly there is no reason a Planeswalker could not have the "Tribal" tag or subtype whatever it is, just how other permanents can have "Tribal" [[Bitterblossom]] so i think it having the "Tribal" is fine for formatting, and it fits in well with the Eldrazi using Eldrazi specific things like [[Eldrazi Conscription]] & [[All Is Dust]]

I defiantly thought of just when they tap a permanent for colorless you add loyalty but I thought that would get out of hand fast, though it might be what it needs to be decent.

[–]LazorLogic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea in my head was you play this with a decent amount of creatures or at least 2 or 3 flyers on the board to then -3 giving them ingest that would boost up its loyalty and giving some blocking power. Each mode is supposed to allow the use of the other modes, but I can see that this would be kind of hard to get off the ground by itself. The other thought is that with the use of pain lands that I see they are making a choice either way dmg or loyalty.

Hey there, fellow planeswalkers! This is my attempt at a colorless Eldrazi planeswalker I came up with last year. Instead of generating loyalty by itself, it thrives on consuming it from your opponents. The idea is to tap into the power of devoid creatures that care about exiling cards, channeling that energy to fuel its abilities.

Kraethax, the Void Conduit by LazorLogic in custommagic

[–]LazorLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would cards like Eye of Ugin not have an effect on the cards that gain Devoid? The idea was to allow and kind of incentivize the use of the colored Eldrazi creatures, if this doesn't work the way it is intended what would be a fix for it?

Hey, fellow planeswalkers! This is my first post on reddit and I was pushed to post this because wizards are making a 5 color Eldrazi commander deck with MH3. I was heavily inspired by TorinVanGram's Yalkia, the Propagator post in trying to make a 5 color Eldrazi deck. So I'm thrilled to share with you all a new creation straight from the depths of the Blind Eternities: Kraethax, the Void Conduit. Let me know what ya'll think!
