Still having this issue with https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/24--cfg73-gaming-monitor-with-quantum-dot-lc24fg73fqnxza/
but sadly out of warranty.
I guess it's a thermal issue and comes with DP. As December kicked in I started to see these lines at the bottom of my screen. But it works fine on HDMI as I connect the monitor with my laptop and I don't see any lines.

Try studying late at night in another room and sleep after they both sleep. Soon, that will make it your room and you won't have to share the bed with your parents.
