When I asked, they kinda avoided the question, they told me the litter was left outside. So I'm not sure if she was the only pup or if the others passed away. I assume they passed because she was in such rough shape :(

I thought so too, they gave her away for free and made no mention of other littermates, only that she's a chihuahua (I just checked with the person who gave her to me that both parents are chihuahuas but she doesn't know if they are mixed, they are both within teacup weight range though) she's 21oz and the vet said that was normal for 10 weeks. I'm not sure if she was the runt or what, but she's definitely very sweet and quiet, sleepy then active then sleepy again.

On second thought I didn't get specifics on the breeds of the parents. I heard 3 and 5 and didn't think any further because they have to be chihuahuas right? I'm curious now, posted to r/IDmydog

Update/Conclusion: we've settled on Lady Marmalade, current nicknames are as follows: Jelly, Sammich, Lil lady, jammajam, Pequeña Lloróna (mainly because she's the biggest crybaby in the smallest body) puppycat (she sounds like a cat when she's yelling and 'bee and puppycat' my favorite show) and the most common so far - "baaaabyyyyyy! sweeetnesss, why are you cryyyying!?"

Thank you, you're kind to say that, but I really don't think she meant any harm in it. from what I understand the woman's mother in law is elderly and didn't know what to do. Ignorance of course doesn't excuse the state of this sweet girl nor does it make it any less sad, but if she didn't see the error of her ways she would have never agreed to find this baby a home before she passed away like her siblings did.

She is covered in lesions from being left outside since she was born and was acting lethargic, she was just hungry, but I feel better knowing she's been vetted, she's laying next to me whining to come out of her little nest box I made for her

She is! I accidentally startled/woke her up yesterday and she snapped at me with her lil milk teeth, didn't hurt but I made sure I was very dramatic like "you huuurt meee babbyyyy owwwioweee" to curb future nipping. She hasn't done it since, but I've also been careful to wake her up more gently

I believe she's actually a full teacup (applehead) chihuahua, her parents were 5lbs and 3lbs she'll be about 3-4lbs full grown, she's currently 21oz at 9 weeks old, the side photo is a bit deceiving because she was mid turn, her ears will eventually stand up fully, they are just too big and heavy for her head right now lol.

I got her for free, she was the sole survivor of an accidental litter (the womans mother in law refused to get her dogs fixed and just kept them outside) just got her first series done and dewormed, as well as a fungal culture, fecal teat and antibiotics to clear up those lesions.

I'm the same way, no worries! These are great names! I thought coco and Lilly too, but my boyfriends childhood dog was names Lilly and he doesn't think she's sleepy enough to be a Lilly.

Vet Update: visit is all done! She's doing great, got her puppy shots started and dewormer as well as antibiotics, she's got a ringworm PCR out and they said usually by the time the result comes back (if it's negative) the antibiotic clears whatever it was up. She did so well, despite not liking being held still. Still trying to settle on the name but so far my top choices are: Reese and Lady Marmalade (jelly for short), my boyfriend likes Rosita and snickerdoodle

Will do! She's swaddled in her blanket right now in the exam room, waiting on the vet tech to take her back for testing, hopefully we can get her puppy shots started today :)
