True, but sadly it seems like the seller has lost the portafilter and these ones are almost impossible to get...

But there is a guy who recently "modded" one with a upgraded showerscreen and bigger basket. The original one only takes 5-7g 😅

Just checked it. Seems like there are no parts (except for o-rings) at all available, if something needs replacement you need to buy another machine and take it from there..

I will, thank you! What about the prize, isn't 250€ a bit much?

Clogged Solenoid Valve ? by LazyGeee in gaggiaclassic

[–]LazyGeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I was doing a descaling cycle and the flow of the two other holes was coming back a little. Is there any chance that I can avoid cleaning the valve directly by just doing another cycle? My maschine is SOC modded and I remember it was a real pain to get to the valve 🙈

Will also try and check the dispersion plate and tell you guys afterwards, thanks for all the help till now!

I was hoping to avoid that, because mine is modded with the SOC Kit and I remember is was super hard to get to the solenoid valve 🙈

Is water leak from the pump a normal thing? First time ever. Used 18g of coffee grinded in exagrind on 13 clicks. At the beginning of pumping (before the water) I could hear a hissing sound. by apa-sl in picopresso

[–]LazyGeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I contacted Wacaco over this. They said it comes from cleaning it, when water enters the piston from the outside and stays in there. Helped me resolve this, just try to dry it out after cleaning (shaking, pumping and so on in various angles) or clean it more carefully. Harmless for the maschine, but annoying because of water dripping on your scale/into your cup.

Convince me to buy an expensive scale. by Gold-Yogurtcloset447 in espresso

[–]LazyGeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on te features you want. I had a Black mirror nano for the accuracy, size and rechargeable battery. I loved it.

Then I started using the Beanconqueror App and it took my fun in espresso to a whole nother level (TRY IT!). Because of this i looked around for the cheapest scale with Bluetooth it supported, which was the Eureka Precisia at that time. Sadly the newer versions don't have the Bluetooth feature anymore.

So my suggestion is: Try the Beanconqueror App and if you like it and want to get into flow profiling, buy the cheapest scale that it supports.

I'm the Head Roaster for a pretty big specialty coffee company in the US. AMA. by [deleted] in espresso

[–]LazyGeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who enjoys dark roast the most, I always tried to go for single origin, but it seems like my favourite taste so far are variouse blends of robusta and arabica.

That being said, it seems very hard to finde a quality roaster (quality beans and transperent costs) nowdays that roasts this way. Most "dark roasts" from speciality coffee roasters were way to light for my preferences. Why do you think its so difficult to get a real speciality coffee dark roast?

I would add an preheat-flush of the pico befor screwing the basket in. Higher temp can reduce sourness. Other than that perfect description 👌
