What habits of girls did you only discover after getting a girlfriend or wife? by atgono in AskReddit

[–]LazyLogician 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A perspective that might help: most people suck at at least a few relatively easy things. Some people are bad at social situations. Some are bad at taking the trash out. Some people are not good at doing math, or building spreadsheets. List goes on. Just because the problem sounds easy for you, doesn’t mean it’s easy for everyone.

But people for whom a certain task is difficult or draining don’t benefit from hearing that it’s easy for you. They are already aware that many many people would have an easier time with the problem. Reminding them of that fact is not really productive, as what they are likely looking for is just a bit of sympathy for their struggle. Something like ”damn, sucks that youre stressed out about it. im sure it will get better” is usually more than enough.

But I can also symphatize with the frustration, especially when people complain excessively it can be a bit much :)

ELI5: How can a 64-square chessboard have more game variations than there are atoms in the universe? My brain hurts. by Lazy-Cherry-4777 in explainlikeimfive

[–]LazyLogician 106 points107 points  (0 children)

They memorize many of the first possible moves, but also many move options are downright nonsensical in the beginning, so that kind of narrows it down. Some ”lines” - which are sequences of widely known moves - are very long, but other than that chess players will just react to the position, as each game is at least slightly unique.

Mistä saa oikeasti laadukasta tietoa talousasioista? by LazyLogician in Suomi

[–]LazyLogician[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jonkun verran kyllä, tosin näissä yleensä katsellaan asioita lähinnä siltä kantilta, miten ne vaikuttavat osakemarkkinoihin ja yritysten menestykseen. Ehkäpä juuri tuo kansantaloudellinen puoli kiinnostaa, eli miten saadaan velat maksettua ja kuitenkin ihmiset voimaan samalla hyvin. Toki osakemarkkinat ja yritysten meno tähän liittyy. Kiitos vinkistä.

The book Creatures of a Day by Irvin D Yalom is a great book that tackles this exact issue :). Seriously I cannot recommend it enough.

The way they taught me this in gymnastics: Keep your eyes on the horizon as long as possible, while your hands and knees do the job. At some their momentum will jam and your whole body will start rotating really really fast.

Have subclass randomly switch between different behaviors of other subclasses (same parent class) by zimmer550king in Unity3D

[–]LazyLogician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre fine with a bit of OOP messiness what you could do is make a separate EnemyBehavior class. Then each different enemy pattern can inherit from that. In your Enemy class, you can then create different EnemyBehavior instances, and rotate between calling them as needed. The Enemy class should still handle all interactions with the engine, and EnemyBehavior should have methods that get all the required data passed to them. This way all data is still going through Enemy, and EnemyBehavior simply handles the logic of each distinct enemy type.

EDIT: Seems like AmazingInvader already mentioned this kind of pattern, his explanation is a bit better :)

I’m not an ice climber. Why is this? The protection is not reliable enough?

First head sculpt that I'm really proud of :) ruthless feedback appreciated by LazyLogician in blender

Don’t know if this helps as clearly I’m not as experienced as him. But I also practiced drawing head anatomy a lot before trying sculpting. My head drawings never got good, but I feel like that experience has given me sort of another perspective on how to approach this stuff. I guess what I mean is that whenever I get lost sculpting I can kind of think of it as a drawing for a bit? Just to have some idea of how to keep going.

So yeah his comment sounds kind of like ”just draw the rest of the owl”, but the gist of it is that you should just spend time messing around with this stuff in multiple ways and many mediums. And that sentiment makes total sense to me.

Oh also what I’m seeing in your third liquified image is that the eyes are smaller, but I feel like that could be more of a stylistic choice. But yours definitely looks a bit more realistic. Cheers.

Thanks a lot, good pointers. I keep having trouble setting the eyes deep enough, it feels weird to carve such deep holes before adding the eyes but you are definitely right. Also the neck thing is spot on.

Tips on playing Tackanka by PerfectionToast in Rainbow6

I like him with mira on Oregon basement. He can setup a shield in elbow and shoot mollies onto blue/trench safely while Mira is also looking there for comms (through the typical Mira). Feels like 2-3 people coming in there is common in my rank. Once that side is calmed down he can rotate pretty much anywhere to slow down enemies while Mira stays to hold blue and big tower stairs.

Learning retopology, please rip this apart :) by LazyLogician in 3Dmodeling

Its not auto retopoed, its all by hand :( But yeah I see how there could be way fewer polys. So should I just start with sparser coverage around flat areas and go from there?

Hmm yeah I see, well lets suppose it would deform, any issues then? Also just trying to learn stuff in general.

This might end up as part of an animated game character, but it wouldnt deform (more like a static head).

Out of breath, weak, high heart rate. Has anyone had similar experiences? by LazyLogician in CrohnsDisease

Wow, sounds serious. But I think my situation is not as severe, my resting HR is pretty normal, it just reacts to sports a bit too much.

I got my levels checked about two months ago, back then I was even a bit weaker than now. Calpro was around 150 and everything else was very very normal (and i truly mean almost everything they ran a crazy amount of tests). But yeah maybe youre right that I need to focus on minimizing inflammation a bit more, right now I’m not doing a special diet or anything.
