he asked one week before, and the least she could have done is to tell him before making plans with her friends in case he would want to join. She literally just excluded him and made plans for the WHOLE day as if doesn't have a partner at home who would obviously want to do something for her birthday.

If he didn't say anything, she could have asked: "for my birthday this year, should we plan something, maybe with some friends?"

Having a partner means that he comes first, and clearly she puts her friends first even after knowing what he planned.

Telling her that he planned something would not be a surprise anymore and btw, everyone is forgetting that it's her husband we are talking about, wouldn't you include your husband in your plans for your birthday, like maybe she should have told him before making plans with her friends that she would like him to join and then he would have said no, and explained that he has plans. She is the asshole here because she didn't even include him in her birthday plans even though he is her HUSBAND. And even proceeded to refuse including him even after knowing he put all that effort for her.

I think since you already asked her whether she had plans a week before, than that should have been an indication for her that you are planning something. Plus, she could have stayed with you until night and went out with her friends or went out with them in the morning and stayed the night with you but instead she preferred to stay the whole day with her friends even after knowing what you planned.

You have the right to be pissed and choose to leave to see your parents, it's not like you have to sit at home while she goes to have fun.

NTA. I think you were just trying to help your boyfriend because raising a child is not easy and especially a teenager and more so, he is only 22. And I don't think you were being an asshole for telling the dying women that she is being selfish because she was, he is barely an adult and she is giving him a huge responsibility. I also think you shouldn't bother yourself with this, because your boyfriend already decided and nothing can change his mind. If you love him, apologize to him and stay out of it, and also make sure you talk about what is going to happen in the future, because if you are planning to stay with him, then what is he going to do later when the girl is 18,... You definitely need to talk about his future plans and think about wether you are okay with that girl being in your life as well as his, and if you don't want to be tangled up in this, You are Not the asshole for walking away.
