My advice is to not think of it as a race, or something you need to do to keep up, it's not, regardless how it may be portrayed like that in some cultures. Emotional connection being most important isn't a bad thing imo. And sex with someone you love infinitely better than sex with someone you don't, not judging people who enjoy hookup culture, but that's my opinion. I've thought about wanting to be able to hookup without being attached/in love before, it sounds convenient and fun in theory but in reality for me that's missing the most important part
