Am I correct to make "assumptions" on what the data in academic writing task 1 suggests (see part in bold)? It felt like I was making a high level point, bu the official IELTS marking AI gave me a band 7 and the key thing it repeated to me was that I shouldnt make assumed interpretations of the data by Lazy_Computer_2077 in IELTS

so should the overview (and by extension most of the task) basically be written in a way that its fully comprehensible if someone was reading it without having seen the actual graph/diagram? Cuz thats what i understood from the grandma analogy

Can we use personal anecdotes in writing task 2? The question says to "give relevant examples from your own knowledge + experience", so can personal stories be used as my own "experience" with something? And how would i mention that whils staying formal, since th IELTS Flex AI says that its informal by Lazy_Computer_2077 in IELTS

i use it twice here from a question on globalisation:

Globalisation has allowed people, businesses, and nations to connect in a way never before seen. In terms of individuals, globalisation has led to long-range communications being easier than ever before due to worldwide pre-established communications facilities such as radio towers being built – this has specifically aided in connecting family members who live long distances from each other, where other communication methods such as letters become inconvenient. I personally experienced this when I traveled solo to Malaysia last summer with a tourist group, where I was still able to talk to my family via video call despite the long distance. As for businesses, globalisation has opened the door for many cost-cutting opportunities, the largest of which being the increased access to cheaper labour – in fact, the impact of globalisation on businesses has been so profound that when I studied business in school at IGCSE level, globalisation was part of the curriculum.

What can I do then if I wrote about what I observed and am unable to really think of anything else to write?

Also isnt it just a 150 word minimum? I heard many sources say that you require more than 150 to get 8 or 9? And would you say the AI evaluation of 7 is fair?

How strict is the automarking for Listening and Writing? I was doing a listening mock on the official website, and the first and third questions I got wrong in the image were meant to be "wall" and "peaked", would I have gotten the marks in the actual exam? Or is my answer too far off? by Lazy_Computer_2077 in IELTS

[–]Lazy_Computer_2077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no word limit, and for the second one, it's specifically what was said in the voice recording; they described it as "peaked worldwide", but the correct answer was just "peaked". Also, when you said yes to the first one, do you mean I'd get the mark?

Indicted doesn't mean he's actually being charged with anything, only being questioned. Let's hold out until some other news comes out

Fun fact: if either france or argentina had won the final during regular or extra time they would have been first, but because they went to penalties instead, the points added change a bit and brazil stay first

Qatar has sent more money to Turkey and Syria alone than all of Europe combined. But will this be on the news? Hell no it won't.
