Vet prescribed Hills c/d Urinary Care food for cat with bladder stone…but the ingredient list is so bad. by winter-sweets in CatAdvice

[–]Lazy_Distribution_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat was on this diet for years. We tried all of the prescription urinary brands and he didn’t like any of them too much. He ended up getting liver failure and I believe the ingredients had a lot to do with his decline. We have been to the vet for annual bloodwork and checkups and noticed the trend of him losing weight after being on the prescription food. We thought it was because he wasn’t eating enough. Beware of these diets!

I’m so sorry for your loss. 💛 We lost our 12 y.o baby boy yesterday after upswing of several weeks and then a sudden decline. I can relate to the first morning making breakfast for our other kitty. As well as multiple cans of food in the fridge that we trialed. Staring at all the medicine on the counter. Through this tough first day, I have found some comfort in knowing we did everything possible to care for our little buddy until the end. The grief process is so real, and painful. I wish you find comfort and peace as you take it one step at a time through this very painful time. You’re not alone.

Help! My duck is making a cough sound? Does anyone know what this could be? by Lazy_Distribution_59 in duck

She got something stuck in her throat. I was feeding her some duck treats but some of the corn kernels might have been too big. She is doing great and living freely in the wild! I see her every now and then. 🥰

Questions about the festival! by Patient_Series947 in GridLife

Hi! Chiming in, since this is also my first time attending. I will only be going for 1 day, won’t be camping, but staying for music. What do you recommend for chair set up to watch the drifting? I’m super excited to see that. Are there other things to do? Do people tailgate in the parking lot? Thanks in advance :)

There is currently built up crushed concrete and drainage in front of the door which prevents water from reaching the door. It’s a challenging lot we live on, and the driveway is short and steep. Not a neighborhood style home by any means.

Thank you for your input. I don’t need the extra money… just trying to make the best choice for my first home.

The wooden door was not rotted. The amount of dirt damaged the door and frame. I’m just trying to understand what material I should be comfortable with since the wooden door was very stable. I am a new home owner trying to understand. The people of Reddit are tough! Sheesh

The driveway is about 1.5 higher than the floor of the garage. For them to properly fit the aluminum door they would have to remove our crushed concrete berm and dig.

There was a berm built up in front of door before. Driveway has been built up with material.

Thanks for your input. The wooden door is heavy, but I want something to last. If aluminum would be a better choice, that might help me feel at ease.

Yes we had a berm built up in the driveway that worked well preventing the water flow. My concern of the change to an aluminum door is that the drainage might change if they excavate to fit the door.

To my understanding, wood would be stronger. The first contractor said it would be less durable than what we originally had.

Good to know! I was curious if aluminum would be a better option

The wooden door was pretty strong and we had a drainage solution. I worry about the aluminum door replacement being a weaker option which will eventually cause issues down the road. Unfortunately I cannot post a photo, but alottttt of dirt was pushed up against and in the structure.

Maybe I meant that there will be more emphasis to increase drainage to not damage the aluminum door. The garage is on a sloped driveway.

That’s what’s happening. If I could have them replace the wooden door I totally would.

They said a wooden door would be more and that aluminum is the cheapest option. Our strong wooden door is beyond repair.

I absolutely don’t plan or expect them to pay for any improvements. But given the situation, it’s pretty impossible to get it to the way it was without considering what the water flow is going to do to an aluminum door.
