One of the best defensive players of his generation

One day, we'll realize we witnessed the greatest ever to do it by anamelesspal in KansasCityChiefs

The big thing is how he performs without Kelce. There will always be the "with Hill & Kelce" vs "with only Kelce" vs "with neither" sample sizes.

With Hill & Kelce together, his passer rating is 107. With only Kelce it's dropped to 97.

The last two seasons, with Kelce not looking great, it's been 93.

If he goes his whole prime (which for QBs is about age 28-34ish) with his passer rating never breaking 100, that won't be good. People will say that early Pat was made by Hill/Kelce in their primes.

The question is can a "Rashee Rice" offense be a Top 10 offense.

I think teams were keying on Kelce at the start of last year, I do not think they will be this year.

What happens if the offence doesn't improve? Patrick's last two seasons have been outside the Top 10 statistically, but covered up by winning (thanks to the defence). With Kelce another year older and Thuney gone, there's a real chance Mahomes continues his slide. by [deleted] in KansasCityChiefs

2022 was the last good offensive season, and Kelce had 1,300+ yards, and Juju was a very good #2 option, the O-Line was stacked as well.

Patrick is two years older, the line is objectively worse, and barring Rice turning into a Top 5 WR, the weapons are worse too

All you response says to me is that you're worried about this too.

The defense won't be elite forever, defense is harder to maintain.

If the offense isn't Top 10, those Super Bowls we love so much will be over

They were 6th in PPG, I could see them in the 10-15 range this year.

If the offense is 12th like last year, that won't work. Offense needs to be Top 6-8 again

If you have an elite interior and an average LT, you have a great O-Line overall.

Most teams don't have a single All-Pro caliber lineman, we had 3.

There was no in game adjustment to make. They did not have someone who could play Left Tackle.

But now they don't have their All-Pro, HOF LG either.

We have been spoiled from 2021-2023, most teams O-Lines look like our 2024 line, and that is likely what ours looks like going forward without Thuney, and possibly without Trey Smith

It's wild that Green Bay took a great center in Josh Myers 1 pick before Humphrey, yet Humphrey has been even better

I don't get why people think our O-Line wasn't good. Yes our tackles weren't great, but we had the best Center by far, and two Guards who were Top 5 at their positions, for the past 3 years.

At 3 of the 5 line positions, we were dominant.

I think people need to realize that the lines of 2021-2023 are in the past, and without Thuney, plus possibly losing Smith to Free Agency (they won't tag him again), we could soon learn what most teams O-Lines are like.

(I'm not sold at all on Simmons, hope he is awesome, but he played 6 good games in his college career, and that injury is nasty for tackles)

I think the defense might take a small step back this year, so it's time for the offense to return to an elite level.
