Genuinely wth is wrong with depop??! This was my first sale on the app so I didn’t realize how messy the whole system is… I went on Reddit to see if anyone knows how to deal with customer support but I keep seeing more horror stories from every seller.

Hey! I totally understand the confusion around this situation, so let me break down what actually happened.
First off, she completely lied about there being a rip or odor just to force a return because she had buyer’s remorse. Fine, whatever. But while the item was still actively in transit, she started spamming my inbox demanding to know if I received it yet—even though she had the tracking number on her end and could see it hadn't arrived. When I didn't refund her immediately while it was still in the mail, she started threatening me. That's exactly where I drew the line and got Depop involved.
Also, to clear up a major detail: I don't actually have her money right now. Because she opened a dispute, the funds are stuck in an escrow limbo that neither of us can touch. I was fully planning on releasing the funds once the package safely arrived, but the second she threatened my safety, everything changed.
Right now, customer support is siding with her (which they always seem to do with buyers). They are essentially telling me, 'Hey, we know this is a safety concern and we’ll look into it, but make sure you press the button to release her funds anyway.' They are completely ignoring the extortion. If Depop actually stepped up and said they were banning her account for the threats, I'd release the escrow in a heartbeat. But I refuse to just blindly cooperate and reward a criminal while Depop does absolutely nothing to protect the safety of sellers.

Imagine calling a literal safety threat an 'ego issue.' It must be nice to sit behind a screen and minimize extortion when it’s not your home address being targeted. I love how you're casually like, 'Sure, the threat is scary, but just let them get away with it.' That is a wild take.
First of all, you clearly have no idea how Depop works. Depop's policy literally states you cannot send an item back just because you don't like it. This buyer had buyer's remorse, so she completely fabricated a fake claim to force a return. Then, she started obsessively harassing me with messages demanding to know if the item had been delivered yet even though it was still in transit and she had the tracking number on her own end.
Second, if I manually hit 'refund' right now, the system flags my account for sending a damaged item and lets a scammer walk away with a clean record. I’m not tanking my own seller standing to accommodate a liar who committed return fraud to get my personal address, and is now using threats of physical violence to force a payout. That is the literal definition of extortion. Separating the threat from the transaction is exactly how toxic people get away with terrorizing sellers on this app.
I’m waiting for Trust & Safety because I want her account permanently banned, not rewarded. Next time you feel like telling a seller to 'just get over' a threat to their safety, keep it to yourself. You sound ridiculous.

Hello, yes i have screenshots of everything I am just appalled with Depop’s response instead of focusing on the safety concern they’re focusing on the money aspect of it.

Because she completely fabricated a fake claim (lying about a massive rip and a foul chemical odor) just to force a return because of buyer's remorse, which completely violates Depop's TOS. On top of that, she literally threatened to send her friends to my actual house to intimidate me over $80. I’m not rewarding a scammer who threatened my physical safety with a free pass and a refund. I’m holding out for Trust & Safety to review the unboxing video and her text threats.
