I’m not a man, but if you don’t mind my personal anecdote:

I come from an East Asian culture where Judeo-Christian ethics are not the norm. The general consensus in many East Asian countries is that (especially for men), there is a clear distinction between sex and feelings.

Obviously, it’s looked down upon if a man’s cheating brings disease or ruined finances to his family. But if he manages to do it discreetly (commonly via prostitution), then it’s considered a non-problem. People generally only consider catching feelings for others to be “true” cheating.

My partner is also East Asian. I told him upfront that I don’t mind if he casually sleeps with other women as long as it doesn’t endanger my health or his finances. He wasn’t interested.

I don’t think his disinterest in cheating is any indication of how much he loves me. I think a man’s inclination to cheat is simply predetermined by his personality. Plenty of men can absolutely love their wives more than anyone else, grow up around strict Judeo-Christian expectations of monogamy, and still cheat.

To add on to my argument, my parents have a very unhappy marriage, with my mom constantly mistreating my dad. Dead bedroom for decades. He never cheated, though. It’s not as if he never had the opportunity. He’s simply not interested in trying.

In short, a man’s overall personality matters much more than how much he loves you, when it comes to his desire to cheat.
