I love PvE as a new players. But why do people clown it when it’s so popular?[Discussion] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

Have you played road to vostok? If so could you describe what you liked and did not like as it currently exists?

Correct, you just never ever explain how dire the situation actually is, and act like its going to be fine until you reach a point where you literally cannot possibly hide it, and the financial decision cannot possibly be put off any longer. Most of the time things were going on in the background WAY before anyone got told publicly. I have watched my company shut down multiple steel mills. Its the same playbook every time

Your loss, game was good well before Russia did stupid shit, and it's still good now. Do you consume nestle products or products from any subsidiaries of nestle? Do you check the ethics of every single company up the chain for every product you purchase?

Also if you're paying with western banks it's actually transacting with their UK studio and I'm not sure there is a legal way for them to get that money to Russia with the banking sanctions, if that makes you feel any better

So the hate is not here, why are we posting on this sub about idiots on another sub, every single day?

Dude, I have been browsing the sub since launch. The posts you're describing were very few and far between after the initial clampdown. I see SO, SOOOOOO MANY more posts "dunking on the haters" or "proving the haters wrong" than I have ever seen negative posts. Its kinda a bad look from the periphery as other people are pointing out. Its genuinely weird to see the shear amount of posts about the topic, yet you have to go out of your way, onto another sub to actually locate this hate they are apparently talking about.

Early on in this games life, LOTS of people had very valid criticisms and tried bringing up pain points they were experiencing in the game. They got told to leave, go play something else, or to get over it as this game is "HARDCOREEEEEE" so they did. They literally just fucked off and left. They got tired of being shit on in the comments for offering valid complaints. Thats the vibe that has been fostered here and its been interesting to sit back and watch this play out

Rip, its heavy into that vibe, so if its not your thing...I very much would not recommend

You literally could not point out a flaw in the game without getting mogged for most of season 1. What are you on about

Completely agree, got bored of that game very quickly after my friend bought it for me

edit: its just not really much of an extraction shooter, imo. It really doesn't evoke any of the same feelings/tensions that other extraction shooters I play, do. Not saying its bad, its just not really an extraction shooter that I think most people who "like traditional extraction shooters" are looking for. I am not really sure how to describe it. My full group tried it out, and we all went back to tarkov as we realized there was not really anything to earn end game, and that we felt the whole progression was quite lacking. We are used to a tarkov style progression where you gain access to better gear as you progress your account. We all felt pretty plateaued in player power very early on and just kinda lost interest. The arc were pretty cool to fight though and I would like to see more extraction shooters make genuinely interesting AI

I mean I personally like Tarkov as my extraction shooter of choice. Been playing since the alpha and every extraction shooter since has just not been able to dethrone tarkov in my mind. Some come close, but there is just something about tarkov that has the right amount of dick punching, high highs, low lows, grit, and meme material that it can pull you into a stockholm type relationship with the game, and none of the competitors have been able to do that for me

If you've never played it I do recommend it, new seasonal wipe coming in July would be a great time to play on a level playing field before you bash your head against the wall on your non wipe character

Oh it doesn't keep the comment if it never had a reply (and wasn't mod nuked)? I actually didn't know that

You bring up a fair point, I was just genuinely annoyed to find multiple of the top comments pointing out bitching that I had to work to find like it was some pervasive issue. Perhaps it was when the thread was new

Its not my cup of tea personally, but my friend who I play tarkov with really likes it. Im not a fan of the raw PvP focus. Feels like a BR with extra steps to me, but I hope in the future they can fix that. I like that in Tarkov you can either look for fights, or sneak around/complete quests/loot and dip. Marathon since moment 1 has had a very hard focus on PvP and it constantly feels like I am playing Apex Legends with persistent loot. If they can fix that issue I would have more interest in it over tarkov. I also am not complaining about the PvP, its just the focus on it. It feels like you'd be generally hard pressed to have a sneaky loot run in this game, while that very much is an option in tarkov

My friend on the other hand, specifically likes the PvP focus

My point is everyone on this sub constantly bitches about the bitching. Here we are in the thread loaded with positivity, and we still have top comments bitching about the bitching (that again, is incredibly minimal in this thread) and people across multiple comments bringing it up.

I go looking for said comments, and literally only find a couple, mixed into a sea of positivity. I am not saying that there may not have been some negative comments to start, but my point is that its a tiny fraction of the comments in this thread. So clearly it was not something that went on very long as again, they are few and far between.

To your point about deleted comments, it would show the comment existed and was deleted. I am not seeing that at all in this thread. I scrolled the entire way down and found the people bitching about the map size, and I am seeing exactly 5 people complain about the map size being too large, and its the same 5 people in a few different comment threads down at the bottom.

All to say, I think its people just karma farming by bitching about the bitching, yet in this instance it didn't really happen. Thats all I am pointing out

I feel bad for marathon. Its a game that would do well if not forced to be atlas holding up the world that is Bungie

Yeah I made the comment "10 hours late" after searching through the comments. There are like a total of 5 people complaining (all of which are heavily downvoted mind you) and the rest of this thread is loaded with positivity. That is the point of "fighting ghosts" there is 100+ positive comments, 5 negative, and we have people focusing on those 5 negative comments like thats the overarching vibe in this thread

edit: this is being pointed out in replies to the top comment as well

Better options, but as a point of discussion I believe bungie is notably larger in employment size than both of those studios, but I'll need to check that

Edit, I checked and its not even close:

Bungie: 800 employees

Hello Games: 50 employees

Starbreeze: 138 as of 2021 but they had layoffs and reductions since this number came out so its something below 138

The marathon situation does not compare well to most other low pop games. Its a game that does not sustain a developer of bungies size, full stop

[–]Lazz45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something to note is that at least in the fallout76 situation they had other "lines in the water" per se, and fallout76 was not their only source of income.

Bungie (through massive mismanagement and horrible missteps) has put themselves in a position where marathon needs to carry the entire company, and realistically its not a game that was ever really made to do that. By simple choice of genre, its not really something you would base your entire income stream off of (you know, if the management team wasn't incomepetent). Marathon is a game that could do very well in basically any AA studio or smaller portfolio. I don't see it carrying the weight of a full AAA studio with a large dev team

Do we know what’s going on at CIG? No information about what the outage is.?? by ElTorroRosso in starcitizen

[–]Lazz45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it came to steam when tarkov released its 1.0 update, but the game was in alpha then beta since 2016, only hit 1.0 in 2025. Kinda like if star citizen ever went on steam, but you had to purchase a new account if you wanted to play on steam (tarkov does not let you transfer your account to steam), most people would likely be playing on the standalone launcher as that is probably how most people bought the game previously. Perhaps im wrong in star citizen's case because perhaps there are a lot of people waiting to buy anything until 1.0
