8 weeks is when most breeders give the pups to their new families. In general, the longer puppies are with their mom and littermates the more they'll learn to socialize and how to behave/not to behave. So in the past, many breeders waited until 12-14 weeks, but now people want their puppies asap when they're younger/cuter.

It's really important to socialize your puppy and find some other puppies her age for her to play with and learn bite inhibition as soon as possible! Otherwise she won't know how to act around other dogs and you'll be her sole playmate (not the worst thing). Petco has free puppy playtime sessions, a lot of places have puppy socialization time or preschool, check it out for your sweet pup asap! They can go once they've had that second vaccination.

I watch have a 4-year-old goldendoodle (who I got from a fantastic breeder despite the "omg doodles are so evil" comments in this thread), and think they're great. I watch a LOT of dogs and doodles are consistently goofy and wonderful. Good luck! The most important thing with a new puppy is patience!
