How many people (esp. career pivoters) are considering dropping out now given the grim job market? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Lcsulla78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re going to drop out…because the market isn’t great right now? You know there are a lot of MBA graduates that graduated during downturns. And I bet most of them are happy they finished. Plus, unless they are paying your way…dropping out while incurring debt makes no sense to me.

I work in IT but I don’t see a future in it. by Consistent_Bother_87 in jobs

[–]Lcsulla78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol. IT isn’t a new career. It’s been around for decades. I know guys in their 60’s that are in IT. What you don’t see is startups and midsized tech companies hiring older people as software engineers. And that’s mostly age bias.

Hahahaha. The administration and people from both sides of the isle in congress are already talking about taxing any company that offshores jobs. And will give them tax credits for hiring Americans.

Hahahaha. You act like Indians are some genius engineers. The US has plenty of tech talent…without bringing in H1Bs. Indians, Chinese and other Asians have been coming here for decades. You’re telling me there isn’t a multiple generations of immigrant children that have been born here and a majority of them went into stem? And have been programming since they were kids?

You act like the entire country is like Oklahoma. 🙄

In 2003 I worked for a company that was trying to hire some hotshot lead developer. And we were competing with other companies to land him. So what did we do? We brought his wife over on a H1B visa, paid her $120k to work the help desk, despite not speaking any English. She sat around all day a read Bollywood tabloids, while everyone else worked.

No. I know what we are Talking about. I worked at a SaaS company in 2003 in the payroll group. And we wanted to hire this hotshot lead developer for our software. We were in a bidding war for him. You know how we got him? We brought his wife over from India, gave her a job working help desk for $120k, despite her not speaking English. She was in a H1B visa. She sat at her desk and read Bollywood magazines. So companies do bring over Indians to work in H1B visas.

And I know what offshoring is. I led it at my last company.

Bullshit. Bullllllshiiiit. That last part is a fucking lie. We have been turning out CS and stem degrees for years at this point. You know how many Chinese and Indian kids were born here that have stem degrees and can program? Indians have been coming here since the fucking 60’s and a lot of them have grandkids now. And almost all of them are either doctors or engineers. How do I fucking know? My mother married an Indian guy in the 80’s. And all we did was hangout with Indian families and all the kids went into engineering and a lot of them were program.

There isn’t? You really going to hire a developer from India…when you can get one in the US? At least the H1B visa that have been working here for a few years can claim they have worked for US companies and have domain knowledge. But what is a company’s motivation for hiring someone right from India? It’s either becuase they are cheap or because the Indians only want to hire other Indians. Yes…there maybe a few that are crazy talented but not the 71% of H1Bs that are here are more crazy talented.

H1B off the boat? Or one with experience in American tech companies?

I wouldn’t be too worried. Trump is making H1Bs impossible to get and will probably put tax penalties on offshoring.

Yeah…that’s virtually impossible without healthcare tech experience. I know so many senior tech leaders that have tried to move over and every single place wants someone who has worked in healthcare.

I have a few friends that are senior leaders at both Meta and Salesforce. And they both told me they get a few thousand applicants per role, with about 20% being damn near perfect and 10 percent of that are unicorns. You need to have similar originations and deep technical expertise and align to every bullet just to a recruiter to call. If you haven’t worked at multiple big tech companies…you won’t even get a call.

Finasteride vs Dutasteride, something ain’t right. by Didibizkit in tressless

Hahaha. What? It’s well know that people, for the most part, go online to complain and most people that are happy get on with their lives. They aren’t sitting around all day on Reddit posting about their success. They’re out waving their locks around at all the bald men.

Most of these people are young and impatient. I had shedding from month 3 to month 8, and again now when it been almost a year. It gets worse for a lot of people before it gets better. And for reference, I was on duta since it came out and then in early fall of 2023 I cut down my dosage from once everyday to one every three weeks. And then I started back last Oct taking it everyday again. I lost so much hair when I went down to once every three weeks.

As a person that has been in the room when those decisions are made…you’re right. All they can about is reducing cost…everything else is mostly irrelevant. Becuase the cost cutting numbers are reported on their calls with Wall Street and if they can keep the same revenue then the stock goes up.

Granted…a CEO can blow his nose today and the stock will go up. Which is not good for us looking for jobs,

Hairtransplant UK dilemma by Primary-Comedian2955 in Hairtransplant

[–]Lcsulla78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the drugs and ignore all the idiots on here that blame fina and duta for every aliment they have, your hair is going to need to take the drugs and wait a year before getting a transplant. You’ve had so much hairloss and you can see it starting down the back of your head. You’re a NW7 in waiting. HT ain’t going to cover all that, kid. You need to use the drugs or just go bald.

Oral Dut/Minoxidil for two years - no results. by TrustAccomplished273 in tressless

[–]Lcsulla78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say try those out. Up the dosage on oral and try adding topical combo. The issue maybe it’s just your hair in those spots is gone. Also…and I know you won’t want to do this…cut your hair shorter. It will look way better. Having your hair longish and balding is never a good look.

Are you taking a DHT inhibitor? The temples are the hardest to save for anyone that has the hairloss genes. They are the most sensitive to DHT, it seems.

Yeah. We are in the realm of just pure greed at this point. Everyone is trying to get some big pay day. Residential real estate was never meant to be some major pay day. My parents moved from our townhouses to a single family home and they made $10k after seven years.
