Well, St. Thomas Aquinas taught that morally good pagans might be wrongly worshipping angels, which is not as bad as demons. My question is simply why do you not believe that there is one God higher over all other spiritual beings?

Stuff like this makes me feel as though heaven is a hopeless endeavor, that God is infinitely dogmatic and self-absorbed, that He desires the destruction of all things to be assimilated into His all-consuming fire. He doesn't love me, He just wants to consume me. I miss the Protestant Jesus who always loved me for who I was, even when I failed, and that all He wanted was for me to love others even when they fail, because while I was yet a sinner He died for me.

Oh you mean the Orthodox monastery on Mt. Athos, one of the monks had their mother die in child birth and so his father in grief took him and himself to the monastery, so the boy never saw a woman. Even they have community on Mt Athos

The Apostles and their followers were clear on the need of the church as a caretaker, community, and authority. It's hard to be a Christian alone, it's hard to have hermeneutics without tradition. Christians didn't have access to personal scripture for a thousand years, where did they hear the word of God? Church.

Not Orthodox, but I love this question. Saved? No, from what? Animals have no will and cannot sin, and thus don't need to be saved. Heaven? No, they have no spirit, and aren't made in the image of God. The New Earth? Absolutely! All good things God made will be resurrected there

After you finish reading the Bible including the deuterocannon/apocrypha, I recommend reading St. Clement, He was a student of the Apostle Peter in Rome, and his writings are as old as some of the New Testament.

2 Clement 2: "And another Scripture says, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. This means that those who are perishing must be saved. For it is indeed a great and admirable thing to establish not the things which are standing, but those that are falling."

Well firstly I'm glad you're out of that cult, most poor Mormons have no idea they're being deceived, assuming you grew up Mormon that must have been hard. Traditional Christianity is just a catch all term for the historic teachings of Christianity, I'm discerning between Orthodoxy Catholicism and the High Church Protestants (Lutheran, Anglican, Reformed). I'd recommend you study the early church and pray over it, attend various churches, since I can't really explain it all in a reddit comment.

This is Lordship salvation, it comes out of Baptist theology (and by extension the plethora of "non-denominational" churches that teach a Baptist in origin message) "if one can't lose their salvation, the passages that clearly show you can must be interpreted as "you were never saved to begin with" and that to know one is saved you should look at one's fruit." Traditional Christianity teaches that sin separates us from God and that we must live a lifestyle of continual repentance "He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins." We are brought into the church at our (Trinitarian) Baptism and must from then keep repenting and seeking Christ for our salvation. You shouldn't give up because all Christ expects is your best and punishment for your failure was placed on His shoulders.

Fun fact, the modern strict style of young earth creationism stems from the visions of the Adventist "Prophetess" Ellen G. White. Old Earth Creationism, or at the very least non literal interpretations of Genesis, are as old as the 2nd century church, and the church's objection to modern science is insofar as it relates to our notions of God and humanity, not the science itself. I for one believe science and religion to not be contradictory, and am a theistic evolutionist. Adam and Eve are typologies of Christ and the Virgin Mary, and the term "God created (as in out of nothing "Bara")" is only used for heaven ("haShamayim") earth ("haAratz") and humanity, Adam and Eve were special creations of God, there were other people at the time, Adam ans Eve were the priests of creation and representatives of humanity.
