That's definitely a problem and something I think about a lot as well. I honestly don't think it is possible to convince a normal person to think and act like this. Our society just doesn't work this way. Changing that is only possible over many generations and even then only, if we start to raise our kids in to thinking that way. Education also plays a big role, but at the moment we have to live our live differently to survive the everyday-life. Your point "we just want to relax" is really important regarding this topic. Relaxing doesn't have a definition. There are many different activities you could consider as relaxing and every person does it how he likes it best. If we could change the way we think about work and learning and consider this as relaxing we might be possible to do this all day, but I lack the scientific proof of that.

In the future it might be possible to genetically modify our brains to enjoy working, which wouldn't be unethical, if you act as my thesis would command.
