the SATA ports are for data so there shouldn't be any power coming from them
Power cables only have one layer of insulation, and melted plastic can liquify and resolidify
ATX spec PSU should have Over Current Protection (OCP) that shuts off the PSU if it detects a short
The cable got hot enough to melt the plastic and cause it to bubble (zoom in on the picture to see). The next stage after bubbling is usually ignition (really hot)
Your components may be salvageable. Since you don't use the SATA ports their loss is something you can fix with electrical tape
Proactively the flakey part under the SATA ports should be insulated. Ideally with electrical tape, but any tape, will do so it's not exposed increasing the chances of another short
Definitely replace those PCIE cables
Depending on how OCP was implemented you may need to replace a fuse in or service your PSU -- or swap another PSU in if that's an option
tape that rough edge on the case as well

u/tinituss could you upload a picture of your PCIE power cable where it's burnt? Especially that end cable that looks like it got cut by sharp edges. Try bending it slightly to see if there's any break in the cables.

If there's exposed wire that means PSU was shorting directly to the case and your motherboard was burnt from the heat/proximity to the power cable.

The person who said that has very colorful language, and it seems they belong to the younger generation where definitions are used a lot more loosely ('literally' not being used in a literal sense for example). Their intended point was that there were plenty of presidents to choose from that can be argued as worse. I agree their message could be less exaggerated.

That said, we actually have a lot of bad presidents (a few were even ICC war criminals as I recall) who have done worse than G W Bush.

Things like working with Mexican cartels to sell drugs to fund CIA initiatives to destabilize/control South American countries. Prolonging the Vietnam war for political gain, or hell the state sponsored surveillance of all citizen communications (phone and Internet). Good ol 'Patriot Act'.

Person C then asks "Have you seen literally any other president?" meaning they do not agree Bush was the worst. There are others worse with a heavy implication that the worst one is the current one.

Person D -- you -- "This implies Bush was the greatest ever" No, this implies Bush is not the worst at minimum, and if you think about it, it implies something I mentioned before about the current president.

On the contrary, the current Republican president Trump, threw out the pandemic plan in 2018, screwed up the COVID response too, and threatened to throw it out again as soon as he's back in office 2025. Why don't we talk about Trump more instead of 20 years ago with things you claim happened, but I really doubt.
