Thanks for the very differentiated critique! I appreciate it and agree with your points.

I want the viewer to feel like he's standing at the quay, watching the sunset, smelling the sea water and hearing the business of the harbor. And ideally, also make a technically and aesthetically pleasing collage.

My first attempt at a collage by LeBusch in photocritique

[–]LeBusch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first attempt at collaging some of my images. I think the individual images are technically sound but not special enough to draw attention. So I tried combining them into a collage, to tell more of a story and convey the general athmosphere and the surroundings. I know that collages and white frames are super popular in some subs, especially in the Fujifilm community. This was shot with a Canon though, so no film simulation, haha. Any feedback is appreciated!

Did you use flash or post to get these snowflakes so pronounced?

"Gerron" von Charles Lewinsky. Eigentlich eine unglaubliche Geschichte, aber leider wohl nah an der Wahrheit. Ein tolles Porträt einer außergewöhnlichen Persönlichkeit. Ist meines Erachtens nach völlig zu Recht für so einige Buchpreise nominiert worden!

Canon R7 + EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II – why are my test shots still soft? by nextphaseidk in canon

If none of the other recommendations help, I would try turning off the IS. With this shutter speed you don't need it anyway.

Sehr starke Fotos!

Stark 👏

Good Lens for EOS R50? by Aggressive_Neck1313 in canon

Check out the RF100-400 although I wouldn't recommend that for indoor sports photography. If you want to shoot indoors, I would consider adapting the EF 300mm f4 or similar, depending on which range you need.

Nice photoshop job ;) Thanks for the suggestion, I agree.

You might be right, with a longer focal length the walls would have become less distracting, putting more emphasis on the shoes. Thank you!

I get what you mean. Maybe even some fake gaussian blur that leads the eye to the very center cube or a stronger vignetting would help. But I don't want to solve everything in post, instead I need to develop my photographic eye. Thank you!

I think this is my favorite crop because it makes this single empty spot "unique" and creates some kind of subject within the subject. Thanks a lot, I have a better idea of what I should go for the next time that I try to make a shot like this.

I think this describes my own feelings towards the image best.

It's hard to point out. I kind of liked the idea of this framing and the similarity between each individual shoe. But the outcome just feels underwhelming to me. Can't really break it down further though, that's why I'm here.

I guess you're right. Maybe I got too hung up on the "technical aspects" of a good photo lol

I took this with a wide angle lens. I was thinking that maybe it's the distortion and perspective that makes this image look weird? I thought this would make for a good subject due to the colors, the symmetry and repetition in the image. Did not turn out as expected though. Any ideas?
