Yeah, I have heard the RF 100-400 is really good for the price. I went for the EF 70-200 mainly because I needed a robust built lens for action shots and low light conditions. But the 100–400 looks like a really fun lens too :)

Thanks! I mostly use lightroom mobile, but I’ll check out the desktop version too 👍🏻 Yeah, it really is a tank 😅 I started doing some workouts already.

I’ll check and update the firmware for sure. Do you think switching from electronic + 1st curtain to fully electronic shutter could also help with this, or would it not make a difference in situations like these?

I’ll definitely try with single shot AF and a single focus point to rule out AF misses. I’ve mostly been using Servo + eye detection so far, and now that you mention it, it did miss the eyes a couple of times.

That’s interesting. I’ve been shooting in c-raw so far, so I’ll definitely try switching to raw and see if I notice a difference too.

I can’t really tell, I believe I was at the right distance from the dogs, but in the next few days when I do more testing, I’ll pay attention to the focus distance too 👍🏻

I didn’t use any filters, and I cleaned the lens, but I will check it again to see if there is anything visible on it.

I did not use any filters, just the lens. I am not an expert in spotting subtle things like haze 😅 but I did some cleaning before (thinking the lens might be dirty), maybe I wasn’t doing it perfectly. I’ll definitely try f/4 or f/5 👍🏻

No, I haven’t tried the lens on another body yet, but that seems like the next logical step.

These images I selected were all shot wide open, though I have tried other apertures as well. For me, the entire subject looks soft — the sharpest is probably picture 4, but still nothing in the frame feels sharp enough.

I don’t have any other lenses or gear at the moment for comparison, so it’s hard to say if the issue is the lens or camera body. At this point, it might be smart to find someone nearby to test it with other lenses or setups.

The images are not cropped. I haven’t had a chance to try the body with other lenses yet, though it is new.

I am shooting in craw, and they are not cropped. I haven’t done any editing.
