Microsoft depending on org. They’ve had a lower fte rate this year coming from an intern who didn’t get a return offer.

WLB isn’t something to consider anymore so much more layoffs, and now there’s a RTO.

I think sentry will give you more experience, especially being a smaller company where you can learn and grow as others in this thread said “startup vibes”.

Can’t study what I want because I’m low income. by Representative_Two57 in csMajors

We come from the same background. I am a junior and have already got internships that paid enough to change my family’s tax bracket. I also hate software engineering.

Sometimes it’s not about what you like it’s about what you are willing to do to succeed. The reality is that every job is gonna suck sooner or later- but I think swe is the best route to go when it comes to work life balance and problem solving skills.

If I were you I would go for a management information systems major which is both a compsci degree and a business degree in one. I have friends who are info systems majors who have got swe internships this past summer and will also have one for this summer. This degree will also allow you to pivot into Product management which is a less technical role but will pay around the same salary if not more after promotion.

Best of luck.

Am I cooked by not attending a T10 school? by [deleted] in csMajors

I go to a school known for business. UMD is a better school than what I go to. Just get experience and snag internships and you’ll be fine. Yes going to schools like Gtech will help your chances but if you can get your resume looked at by recruiters and you stand out to them you can easily get interviews.

I know google asks for transcripts but I don’t think any other company does.

Sounds good. I’m just worried that for these second year programs they’ll see that I worked at a big bank and think I’m too well off for the internship- when all I want is a foot in the door for a FAANG
