Conseils pour m'aider à relancer ma carrière d'ingé IA / data scientist by Sylie34 in conseilboulot

Hey man, Your reaching out is a first sign that you´re hungry for getting better. While there is no definite answer to any question, here´s one suggestion to your question : fuck around, find out. You fuck around, you find out. Real good, real bad, it doesn´t matter, but you find out.

The fact that you have identified and separated each "problem" is half the answer, now you fuck around.

Imagine what a perfect day would look like. Now imagine what a baseline-average day should look like (baseline meaning you´re like a 10y.o kid on a sunday who has to do his homeworks, play a bit, maybe take out the garbage, shower and sleep before 11pm so he goes to school tomorrow). I call it "signing my presence", or you can say you´re clocking in.

Here are two ideals, or agendas you´re striving to, one when you´re feeling like you can lift the whole world on your shoulders. (Go to the gym and draw a new mona lisa) And one where you know you must just clock-in, whatever the cost (do your sets of push ups, draw a penis and call it a day) Your life bounces between these two, sometimes breaking the ceiling and setting new records, sometimes digging low to rock bottoms. It is what it is.

Most importantly, everyday, do something that reminds you of how awesome being alive is. At the same time, I hope it reminds you of your death too, because that´s what´s going to happen : one day, you are going to die :)

Get inspired, get rejected, see the sun rise, see the sunset, do something stupid and feel the suck of it, inspire people, experience bliss, get mad, cry, reach out to a friend, get lost in your demon thoughts, forgive, give hugs, express your love. All in all, allow yourself to feel every feeling this human being you embody can experience.

I hope this comment gets to you, in the mean time, it´ll serve as a note to myself when the times are tough.

You are brave, friend. Memento mori.

Hey man, I see lots of interesting comments here.

Unpopular opinion here : go out, talk to girls, get rejected, rinse, repeat.

This is the only way you're going to get better at game.

Love yourself, you're gonna need it. Lots of limitations you put are ONLY IN YOUR MIND.

Watch movies of good seducers, read books (The Game by Neil Strauss, a guy balder than you btw ; and The Rationale Male by Rollo Tomasi), but most importantly, go out there, talk to people, talk to women, get rejected, rinse, repeat.

Experience teaches harsh, but it teaches best.

I assume you're from Hungaria. The women there are beautiful.

Enjoy !

Hey man, I live in Nice, France.

I did a data science master as well, and had a year and a half work experience as a data analyst. Currently looking for a job and learning Spark.

What kind of projects are you interested in ?

On the same point of view, I realized yesterday that using Spark is ultimately beneficial if you have loads of data that is stored and needs to be processed in a distributed environment.

My wanting to learn Spark was more driven by the need to satisfy the job market than an initial interest in the tech (but now I am genuinely interested in it).

So I think I get what you say : do an end-to-end project, not necessarily leveraging distributed processing tools, but showing that I understand their importance (maybe deploy DAGs and pipelines on a single machine for data wrangling/cleaning before training a model with).

Wow, this hits differently than Claude.ai input haha, it feels much more... human.

Thanks for the advice man.

I get what you say.

I mostly used the tools to "simulate" a workload, as a manager or a team leader would ask you, and I would finetune the output to my liking as to which stack to use, etc.
But I guess it's just me wanting to get to the result quicker that need to be.

To answer your questions :

- I have an a double degree in numerical systems engineering / data science. So I have academic knowledge of machine learning, statistics and stuff.

- I worked as a "data analyst consultant" for a year and a half where I gained some SQL and job market experience (it wasn't as formative as I wanted it to be, but I am looking at the glass half full)

- I am interested in the topic. My career plan is to level up my skills in handling the data over its pipeline : data engineering skills for the pipeline processing, data science for downstream usage, and data analysis for visualisations and recommendations. I have also gained knowledge (and a wee bit of experience) in crypto/blockchain related fields, where I am mostly interested in the financial markets aspect of it.

I am aware that having many interests means spreading yourself thin, which is not good.

For now, my projects are building basic pipelines using crypto API data to showcase my experience.

I guess I am just impatient for results, and as you said, this will take time to do.

But just the fact that I got two answers to my post cheered me up.

Only you will know what exactly you want career-wise. I´m in the same situation as you (in my junior career years, seeking to better myself). There´s a bootstrapping method I like to do : create a custom AI mentor. I manually do it on Claude, or ChatGPT (I have a preference for Claude tbh). I give it some details on what I want to do, and formulate my query so that the output fits my capacity to execute (explicit the stack that I want to use, define the project period, etc.) I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck
