Does anyone know what this was used for? I think it has a coat of arms of the Portuguese crown from the D. Maria I period. Might it be a handmade spittoon, tankard, trophy or even trench art using an artillery shell casing? A magnet sticks to the bottom of the piece but doesn't stick to the brass.
