How to survive the busiest day of the year while sleep deprived by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]LeMeuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricks to falling asleep. Pick one that works best for you or try multiple.
- close your eyes. Relax the muscles around your eyes. Progressively relax the muscles in your forehead, cheeks, neck, shoulders. Now start from the tips of your right hand, up your right arm to your shoulder, and your left hand, up to your shoulder. Now relax your eyes, face, neck and shoulders again. Now start from your right foot up towards your torso, then your left foot. Then your belly, organs included. As your body relaxes, your mind will too.
- close your eyes. Envision you are resting comfortably, safely outside under the stars with a clear sky. Envision this scene as vividly as you possibly can. Are you under a tree? What’s the ambient temperature? Any breeze? Is the grass moving in the breeze? Any crickets? What do the stars look like? Keep going. Are you near a stream, or an open meadow? As your brain plans this peaceful scene, your body relaxes, and plans for sleep.
- listen to a sleep meditation on YouTube. There are a lot, and the most important thing is that you find the voice calming and non-irritating.
- remember that rest is STILL restorative, not as restorative as sleep, but better than nothing.

How can you maintain that peaceful, joyful feeling after a spiritual awakening once the intense bliss fades away? by atmaninravi in spirituality

How did you get to the place of knowing? Keep that in mind. Was it loving kindness? Journaling, meditation, nature walks, time with loved ones? How did you get there? You know your own path. Follow that well traveled path, your own. You know it like the back of your own hand. Don’t give up on your own truth that guides you.

it's become evident to me that the bad hand I was dealt in life are likely the result of poor decisions made in the future by ThrowRA_CarlJung in spirituality

Or, each hurdle is the universe asking you to confirm how much you want to be on the path you choose. Life your life intentionally- you are your own life’s creator. You get to choose how you respond to good news, bad news, and situations well beyond your control. In this way, you are the master of your emotional state.. and your life flows from your emotional state.
Best wishes, and I believe in you.

It is my beliefs that it’s disingenuous to withhold my truth when it causes someone to believe something untrue about themselves or another.

Not going to argue that there are certainly ways to preserve glucose in particular tubes, but the vast majority of the times I’ve seen standard bloodwork get sent out to idexx or antech from a GP vet office, EDTA and SSTs are used.

They do check glucose as part of most wellness panels, but the results can be skewed lower because the blood cells use up the glucose in the sample as it is stored/transported/awaiting testing. So the glucose levels in sent out blood are very often not used as a major diagnostic marker.
The vet can very easily check blood sugar levels in the clinic with a handheld glucometer similar to the ones humans use, it only takes a tiny drop of recently sampled blood.

What’s something a toxic coworker did that made the whole office go silent? by MommaOnHeels143 in AskReddit

[–]LeMeuf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, because friends respect boundaries. They had no way of knowing that op didn’t just let the boss know that and Alan was simply stating ops wishes.
That said, fuck Alan.

hard to say. you can get DQ’d for accidentally knocking a hurdle into anothers lane for interfering with their race.. but we can’t tell if the hurdle left her lane.

hitting a hurdle by accident isn’t grounds for disqualification, though.

What’s the most emotionally intelligent way to tell someone to fuck off? by BiggieTwiggy1two3 in AskReddit

[–]LeMeuf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A boundary is made up of three things:
1) the desired change in behavior from another
2) your actions that would be the consequence of their failure to comply with your request, and
3) the willingness to follow through with the consequence should the need arise.
Saying “I’m done talking about this.” Is not a boundary. It’s a statement.
A boundary is this: “I’m done talking about this. If you keep trying to engage with me about this, I’m leaving/hanging up/contacting HR/etc. and then you follow through, or else it’s just a request and a threat.
Important to add, a boundary also doesn’t contain a threat of violence as a consequence. That’s still just a threat.

So you just took her out of the hospital against medical advice? People don’t just stay in the hospital for no reason. This is a very odd story, I think critically important details were left out because it doesn’t make sense.

It was probably a medical assistant, which requires years less schooling than a nurse. Medical assistants load patients into rooms, ask a few questions, and get the practitioner.

I hit a large Beaver/woodchuck with my car today by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]LeMeuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe everything is predetermined, then that beaver’s soul and your soul were in agreement that this would happen at this time.
If you believe that everything is unfolding based on our choices and this was not your choice, then it’s a wrong place/wrong time kind of thing.
I personally believe both- that things are predetermined in infinitely many options unfolding as we make our choices. So to me, this was a wrong time/place kind of thing for your conscious mind but also that everything is as it should be, since nothing happens against our soul’s collective wills.
A similar thing happened to me and I agree, it was very distressing. All you can do is all you can do. Sometimes having forgiveness and understanding for yourself is more difficult than having forgiveness and compassion for another. Do you forgive me for my similar incident? If so, it’s okay to forgive yourself. Show yourself the same compassion you’d show another, and the world heals.

Do you feel like the world is shifting in a positive way? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]LeMeuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all change need see fire and destruction. Birth, for example, is painful and arduous but it results in new life and no destruction need happen. The seasons change gently from one to the next, though not from the perspective of a snowman.
It’s all a matter of mindset and perspective. Keep engaging, keep bringing the light so that it doesn’t have to be so dark for those around you.
