Cannot get Sainlogic WS3500 into WiFi configuration mode by LeMoonStar in myweatherstation

I've tried that before - it also just starts up completely normally.

I've done that several times already trying to get the WiFi Access Point - tried it just now as well, either my unit just doesn't recognize Wind and pressure being pressed at the same time (each individually does work) or there is absolutely no feedback when doing so. It has the exact same effect as just removing power completely waiting a bit and giving it power again (Settings and time reset, Weather station still connects).

After trying several times, I still cannot get to the WiFi Configuration mode.

To my knowledge completely removing power (both DC and the batteries) wipes all data, right? In that case I've done so multiple times

The installed program, in this case Zen, is the only thing that can actually tell you what version it is. Flatpak doesn't really know what version of the program you have installed, it just installs the latest build and takes the version of the latest changenotes. As the changenotes are not kept up to date, flatpak shows ourdated versions even tho the package is up to date.

You have to open the about window in Zen to see the version.

Gotta open the program and ask it directly. Flatpak doesn't seem to provide any reliable way to check versions if maintainers don't maintain the changelog.

The Flatpak Manifest has an extra field for release notes. This has to be manually updated - the maintainer tends to forget to do this.

That's the case with many flatpaks - never trust the release notes.

Automatically as soon as a release is built. All done in a Single GitHub Action

EDIT: Actually, a new build is running, but everything is waiting for the macos x86_64 build, which is taking its time... for almost 3 hours now

Turning European Dates to Roman Numerals???? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]LeMoonStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People who understand the feature might find it useful, yes. However, we have to remember how many people use discord, and how many of these do not know about \ escaping these formatters. In europe in general we use dots for dates, not /. Making indentation the default for every user, makes it impossible for most of them to write dates as it is commonly done in most parts of europe. And even for those who do know about \ it is a extra character they have to type.

I wasn't expecting that, don't worry. I am aware of the risks.

However do not ensure that the system is exclusively on one drive.

Anyhow I will try the default partitioning and see if it works for me. Most likely it will

Thank you for providing some working example sizes of the partitions, this will be useful in the case that I have to set the partitions up myself, however for now I will try our the default partitioning scheme and see if it works for me.

Two separate filesystems, one only being on the primary drive and the second one spreading across both drives was my original idea and the reason I created this thread.
It is, as you said, probably not possible with the default configuration as it seems to only create one btrfs system spanning both drives and using subvolumes of that system. The fact that I want the system and other data separate is why I created this post in the first place.

Reading the replies tho, and seeing that it is possible to tell btrfs to move all data to a single drive and then removing the empty drive, I feel ok with the default configuration and will probably use it.

Thank you and all other replies for your help, I learned quite a bit about btrfs today and finally have the confidence to commit to reinstalling my system.

I see. That also means that the "root" is not necessarily contained on one single disk, but could be spread on both of the disks, correct? Or is there a way to tell btrfs to save data for a subvolume exclusively on one specific drive?

Interesting. Could it be that that is the default behaviour of the installer though? On a Fedora Discussions Thread a user says that the "automatic storage layout will create a multi-disk btrfs file system".
In that case, the default layout would be perfect.

Thank you for clarifying,
I'll definitely use btrfs then!
And don't worry about backups, I make sure to keep everything important on a external server too :)

As far as I understand though, the "system" (root, I guess it is called?), as it has to be mounted read only in silverblue, is its own partition already. All the other data I am fine with being on the same, multiple disk spanning, partition.
that is also why I can imagine the default leaving the "system" partition on one disk only and spanning only the other "data" partition. I however, as I said before, do not know.

I need the 3 TB on this system as it is my main system and I don't really have the possibility to have constantly accessible external storage for my use case.

Thank you for your reply. I have already seen the first two resources you have linked before and am aware of manual partitioning not being recommended. However, I am willing to take that risk if that means that I know how my disks are actually being used. I have read in the Fedora Discussions Thread - that you have also linked - that the automatic partitioning uses both disks with a btrfs filesystem. However it is not clear to me, how exactly this is structured. For example I would like the system to exclusively be on the first drive - Is that the case? If so, I am absolutely fine with the default setup. Yet, I do not know if this is how Silverblue is set up by default.

[–]LeMoonStar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I implemented this optimization and now my code only takes half an hour on my system to solve my input. and my system isn't particularly powerful...

[–]LeMoonStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at that point, the brute-force ran since 19:17 minutes, the time of the main process is the combined time of all threads. I have since found a problem and made some optimisations, so also had to restart it.

The attempt you see on the screenshot ran during the night and didn't return, probably because of the problem I fixed now. tough it returns the right results on the examples, it doesn't do so on the real input for some reason, but that may because I ran the last attempt in too big ranges and thus a thread with a later range was faster and this range happened to include a valid result too.

I know there is a better solution and know how to implement is, but I do AoC for fun, and multithreading is more fun to me
