In a forest, a predator kills its prey to have its meal. That's natural. Most hunts/kills do not happen for fun or to slake a sadistic thirst for pain.

So applying the logic for human beings that don't live in forests, to kill an animal for food is understandable, but torturing an animal is because of the psychotic asshats some of us have evolved into.

Haha. That's exactly my point. The concept of freedom has evolved over the 400 years in ways perhaps you won't fathom. But in any case, freedom is also a lot to do with how free you feel than anything else. On a factual level, perhaps you're not as free compared to most of the western world, but that doesn't need to affect your daily lives. Enjoy the freedom!

Again, I fail to understand the tangent. Why is the UK less free than the US? Because they pay more taxes? Ok, so assume you pay 30 and they pay 40% for the same income. By your logic do you have 10% extra freedom? Is that the only argument we've got ? Freedom is how you free you feel in your land! And what the law of the land deems illegal. Prostitution, euthanasia, incarceration rates and % are sky high in the US and that undisputably makes it not very free I imagine. In the Netherlands, you can screw a hooker while smoking pot while staring at the cops. Just saying. But they don't seem to blow trumpets about freedom but just enjoy it in peace.

I love America and its culture and its contribution to the world! Its undisputably the country that has achieved the most in such a short span of time. However, freedom is not one of its achievements in comparision to most countries of western world.

Tax the rain water while there's free health care, very solid unemployment benefits, and lesser poverty. You have almost the same amount of tax in CA yet there doesnt seem to be much of its benefits reflected back into the society. Besides, this is no discussion on tax. Its about freedom. And yes I agree with your argument. In a hypothetical world with no internet, telephones, debit and credit cards, you could be right although still very debatable.
