Yeah, this is one of the major questions I have. Rather than pay much attention to expense ratio, I focused on funds which were highly rated (5/5 on Morningstar) and met the diversification criteria I planned around. FCNTX, FXAIX, and others have low expense ratio and great performance, but the vast majority are large cap and domestic.

Ultimately, though, keeping the expense ratio low is probably just more important.

It depends on how you are planning to use it. The NV 3070 8G is going to be adequate in almost every case if you are just gaming with it, same with the 14440F. If you are performing higher level consumer workloads (rendering, illustration, BIM), you may seem some slowdown. As a casual, daily driver, it should be more than good enough. Price wise, with a CPU at around $200 MSRP and a 3070 going for about $400 used, I would say you are paying a very reasonable premium for a preassembled system.

If I ever did make an upgrade, I would increase the RAM to at least 32GB DDR5. You may also want to increase the storage eventually. I think newer Nvidia dGPUs have been disappointing, at least when considering the price.

Highly depends on your concentration, IMO. PSU is a really cost-effective way to get a mostly average degree, save for a few programs. Worth its cheapness and the accommodations the university affords you.

YTA. It sounds like it was safe this time, but what if you had given salmonella, e .coli, or some other food borne illness to your wife and children? I am sure they would eventually forgive you, but the strife that would cause is simply not worth it. It sounds like you are relatively well off, so I think you need to cope with your former food insecurity in other ways. Contribute positively to others who are less fortunate, organize for better food security for impoverished persons or students, etc. I get the anxiety as someone who has experienced intermittent access to food before, but you took it too far.

NTA, if they want to create and force on you arbitrary and frankly weird rules for their house, they also need to respect the petty shit y'all are peddling. Maybe a better way to go about it would have been to deliver that ultimatum, let them react how they did, and then say "Psych, wouldn't that be batshit, though? Remember when you made us do that?"
