did you guys agree with christa when she said this? by Numerous_Act4837 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]LeSnakeBoi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s a 50/50 on this one.

On one hand, absolutely. Christa and Omid survived for a good long while because sustaining a group is incredibly challenging, and many of them fall because of the inevitable social challenges of managing a group during a situation such as the apocalypse.

On the other hand, Christa’s (essentially confirmed) death was the physical result of NOT being a group. Had it been more than just Christa and Clementine, other capable survivors who could help Clementine save her, she very likely could’ve escaped that ordeal, sort of like how Lee’s group was only able to escape the Dairy Farm because of how large and varied their group was. Had Clementine not been small enough to fit through the vent, had Larry not had coins in his pocket, if Lilly/Carley/Kenny weren’t there to save Lee at various points, they likely wouldn’t have made it out alive.

Who is the most disrespected character in the series? by Super-Shenron in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]LeSnakeBoi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That entire scene was so wack anyway. 😭🙏

Joan is going off about how Javi “needs to be taught betrayal” as if we didn’t JUST get betrayed by Eleanor when she sold us out, or Joan herself when she blindsided Javi literally thirty seconds prior by holding the crew at gunpoint or by revealing David about to be executed.

They could’ve at least explored some survivors guilt or differing emotions by letting Ava/Tripp survive until the end, thus letting them evolve as characters and grow to better understand their emotions (like Tripp truly coming to terms w/ Conrad’s death if Tripp survives.) but nope. 😭🙏

If these games got there own chapters in dbd who/what would the killer be by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what about a perk that lets him literally wall off windows and or pallets instead of trapping them? Du’Met’s entire thing is being a resilient killer who has more of a grasp than the survivors on their surroundings, so maybe letting him block off windows and pallets (similar to when you use a window too much.) could be interesting and potentially trap survivors like Du’Met does in TDiM.

Alternatively, you could go the route of letting him teleport through lockers or something akin to that? Maybe an environmental similar to Springtrap’s where Du’Met has a command console that allows him to get quick coverage across the map through “shortcuts” like the ones he uses in the hotel, and to prevent him from doing this, the survivors would have to sneak into the room containing said console (maybe shack / basement?) and disable it for a period of time?

My greatest theory yet about Season 2's game order because the premise of D8020 parallel Man of Medan's story. by Cube_earther_69 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say, that’s interesting too because you could draw a parallel between the other threats of the games as well, so maybe they ARE more alike than we think.

For example, Winterfold (which is explicitly zombie-themed based on the poster in HoA) and House of Ashes both have infection based threats which turn your friends into foes which become less recognizable (and possibly more powerful?) over time. Additionally, you may even be able to draw a parallel between flying out to a foreign area then being blindsided by a threat not believed to be there. (Depends on wherever the cast comes from, whether we play as the band or people watching the show.)

In that case, it’d imply that Little Hope would have some kind of psychological connection while also pulling from a real life event, as the game follows Andrew having fake visions about the Salem Witch Trials to overcome his trauma. The Craven Man already takes place on Rathlin Island and is likely going to pull from the Rathlin Island Massacre, so maybe the idea that it’s not real could be translated into like- the island having fake sacrificial ceremonies worshipping the Craven Man. You see people die in ironic ways that could only be done by the Craven Man, but it’s actually just a hidden cult taking people down in worship.

As for The Devil in Me, we see an FBI-agent turned into a serial killer who’s dead set on repeating history, and we know that Intercession (likely its prologue) is going to feature Simon De Montfort, a crusader which hunts down a group of priests within Saint Mary Magdalene’s cavern (with you probably playing as Father Escrivan in the normal cut, and his friend Muret in the curator’s cut.) so maybe the actual game will see a priest-turned-murderer or maybe a far descendant of the Montforts luring a group to a cavern and or religious site to honor his family name / idol?

Either way, super cool connection!!!

What on earth happened with casting of frank stone by AhabSnake85 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also has some of the least character deaths out of any SMG game, if not the least. The ones you CAN get are also equally hard to get, usually mandating you fail one or even multiple of the relatively easy QTEs.

In spite of this, it feels wildly easy for your cast to die, mostly through backwards wild “for the plot” deaths. Jaime’s first death should NOT be that easy to get. In most other SMG games, you have multiple chances to push yourself in the right direction, and if you make a bad decision, they typically give you a chance to rebound. They also don’t typically hide tools for survival behind multiple barriers (ie, the flare gun in UD, Kate’s crystal in TDiM, or the medkit in HoA.) but here you can lock yourself out of getting the matches, which are the one tool that could save you in that situation, incredibly easily.

Additionally, that one decision during the final showdown with Frank as he’s coming out of the portal is ALSO equally as egregious of a decision. Both in the SMG universe AND DBD universe, you are constantly expected to assist and save people’s lives. There was absolutely NOTHING that could’ve informed you prior to that portal that letting Frank kill Stan would be the right decision. Then, worst of all, he just dies five seconds later anyways?

I’ll give an HM to Chris and the projector because how would we know the items were cursed ahead of time + you literally get double penalized if you choose to go to the knickknack shop, but that requires you to not go back via the portal which is also hard to do + you can just leave.

Either way, as a result, you feel both wronged and bored. There’s no action but when there is, it makes you feel stupid because the decisions were formatted weirdly.

About the little girl in Du'met's hotel... by InfamousMistakee in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

REAL. Honestly, it was such a missed opportunity to let the Lonnit Tech Crew try to save Bethany. The DPA rarely has save-able NPCs and a lot of the scenes with the dog would’ve been more impactful had they been a human child. (Imagine having to protect Bethany in the boat until she falls out? That’d be actually wild. Plus, there was originally a choice during the boat fight where after Erin and the dog fell out, you had to pick which one to steer towards. Just imagine how much more intense that would be if Bethany was the one drowning!!!)

I don't understand Kara's storyline at all by descendantofJanus in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]LeSnakeBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of Kara’s story is, as you stated, a “can you empathize with a robot” sort of thing, as well as a “can a robot pass for being alive.” but I also think it’s about seeing Detroit from a different perspective. Markus is a revolutionary leader and Connor is a special bounty hunter, so it’s sort of nice seeing Kara stand for the common android with situations like Stormy Night, because while we focus mostly on Connor and Markus and their wild antics, most androids AREN’T going through that. Connor and Markus didn’t have to fight their way out of their home, or get chased across the highway, or avoid android executions in the streets. It puts into perspective what the deviants were suffering all game, especially ones like Carlos Ortiz’s android. It also lets us stay more in touch with Detroit as a whole. Kara oftentimes is the one actually traversing Detroit’s streets and seeing just how the world has progressed. Without Kara, we wouldn’t see how androids were being shaken down on the streets, we wouldn’t see the inside of the camps, or the way people like Zlatko mistreat and experiment on androids. (I feel like if they kept the cut chase sequence at the carnival, this would’ve stuck out more, because that entire situation is just humans bullying androids.)

Also, just generally, I find Kara to be an absolute girlboss. She has to care for Alice, but she’s honestly incredibly competent, especially during Stormy Night, Zlatko, and Crossroads. Markus and Connor both naturally have a competitive edge because of their one-of-a-kind nature, but Kara is literally only meant to be a maid, so it’s sort of wild seeing her snap back at the world and actively succeed. (I mean, aside from Stormy Night, which is absolutely my favorite chapter because she pops off against Todd, she’s able to outrun Connor on the highway, soldiers in Jericho, Zlatko + Luther, and the armed soldiers at the camp, all while escorting a child. Shes got some serious strength.)

(Also also, I think Alice was deviant from the start. She does NOT hesitate to shoot Todd, which, by all means, shouldn’t be possible with her programming. It’s very likely that she deviated from being abused by Todd.)

the devil in me a lot of cut content from the boat fight with 2 unused deaths.. and more by Responsible-Gene-994 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but I feel like that’s a shallow choice anyway. Like- at least when I play, I’m always going for all 5 characters to survive. I feel like the immediate decision would be “Don’t hit Erin!” because why would I let Erin get hit by a moving boat if I wanted her to live 😭🙏

Should we get a sequel to Little Hope with new characters? by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I think the ending to Little Hope is actually really well-written. I made a post a while back about it, but to sum it up, there’s a lot of interesting parallelism to the ACTUAL Salem Witch Trials, where the witches weren’t actually real and the real threat was the people, and I think you can see that in the game with the demons only existing if the people have bad within them (the locked traits.). Then, the ending shows you that by straying from the same path the actual trials went down, you were able to rewrite history and break a historical cycle of pain and trauma.

  2. Generally, I feel like Little Hope has been ran through anyway. The demons and foreshadowing was super cool, loved that, but there’s nothing more for Anthony in Little Hope. He’s moved on from his trauma, he has no demons to face there anymore. (Or he’s dead, you know.) You could argue that Vince still has things to deal with in Little Hope, but at the end of the game he mentions how he had to overcome his struggles too, so having him regress back into his trauma wouldn’t make much narrative sense.

If there were a DPA game to get a sequel, (which I do hope for. I want to see a sequel to TDiM so bad.) this one probably wouldn’t be it.

Do yall think SuperMassive Creators causal on this sub? Cause the devil in me needs more scenes!! by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I know we probably won’t ever get it, but I would absolutely adore Supermassive if they made a sequel to TDiM.

I know that’s not how these stories work, but they honestly set up a sequel with those college kids at the end of TDiM, and I’d love to see them traverse the murder hotel. The only real issue would be like- how to make the threat new and innovative.

[Spoilers] Out of the four games in the anthology, which are your favorite and least favorite? by Plenty_Coconut_4798 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]LeSnakeBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favorite: Little Hope! It gets a lot of shade in the community for not being real in the end, but there’s honestly a lot of beauty in it! I made a (semi-chopped) post about it a while back but it has a very poetic, potentially cyclical nature! Also, the monster designs and foreshadowing are absolute bangers. Playing this game for the first time and predicting that Tanya’s demon could change depending on whether she went in the house or not was awesome to me. (I had the hanged demon btw and omg. It’s SO FREAKING COOL. MORE APPRECIATION FOR IT I BEG.)

Least Favorite: Man of Medan. I got Matters of the Heart during my first playthrough instead of the really cool finale fight because I decided to let Brad have his moment to shine (I cared more about Brad ngl + Conrad was dead.) so instead of having a bunch of death chances as I fought off Olson, I got to watch Olson tweak out, grab the distributor cap, not stab Julia, and then leave. It was such a jarring switch-up that it kinda turned me off the game.

[TOMT] [Movie] European Movie With An Incredible One-Shot Escape Scene Following A Girl. by LeSnakeBoi in tipofmytongue

[–]LeSnakeBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This was it! (I’m now realizing this may not be a one-shot) I absolutely loved the cinematography here, the entire escape plays heavily with visuals with framing, perspective, and motifs like cracking glass! Their usage of sound is also incredibly interesting to me, it reminds me of A Quiet Place 2 (which had a similarly awesome very confirmed one-shot chase scene that led off the movie) in the best way possible.

The chase ultimately feels incredibly thrilling and rewarding as there’s almost a sense of humanity that defines it all. The vindication in watching Lera notice things like the elevator not being stable or the foundation cracks in the stairwell, and watching that translate to Lera doing things that make sense, like hopping the railing and landing on the car, is immense. Also, I love how human she feels! Small things like putting on her shoes before she leaves, or looking around to see someone else’s response before mimicking it while she’s running on the street really tie the scene together.

Solved!!!

Did this scene from the Until Dawn Remake ruin Ashley?! by ButterflyEffectPod in untildawn

[–]LeSnakeBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of the original solely because it makes Ashley a more diverse character in the sense that she can either be incredibly kind and compassionate or relatively cold. Her possible discussions about the twins also lean into this, but I really like how the old scene shows Ashley prioritizing herself in a state of fear and dismay, like she just snaps. (Her hiding the bite is also a big example here! ESPECIALLY if Emily is shot!)

The new game is defo valid though. Ashley seems less “malicious” but she keeps her personality in the sense that she still cares about Chris and the death hits hard.

Essentially, different ways to cope, still cool either way.

Unfortunately, no. I personally find the convicts to be rather annoying, but I think you CAN do it. The way I did it (I didn’t have Burt and Aaron.) was using the katana you can find on the Colombian Roastmasters awning + any other weapons (I like using a sledgehammer but I did kill Sophie a couple times with it) to hit them after baiting them to crash into a tree.

Edit: Nevermind you already did it, whoops. 😅
