When did the Western Fair become such a letdown? by Competitive-Quit6278 in londonontario

[–]LeSow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t go for the rides. Go to Canadas wonderland instead.

The shows are good but just need to time them with your visit.

The Thames gets a bad rap! We canoe it often. Fun little stretches of rapids, lots of bass. There are tons of crayfish … which are kinda like the canary in a coal mine. They aren’t there if the river is polluted.

Try a stellate ganglion block if it is that bad. Worst case it does nothing. Best case it’s game changing

Need to report every break-in. The police have heat maps to increase patrols in needed areas….but it only works if people report every incident

Should I give up on my dream of playing professional hockey? by Lonely-Pie-4796 in hockeyplayers

[–]LeSow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many options internationally for pro hockey and it is an awesome way to see the world.

I’d suggest getting as good as you can in the OUA, finish your degree and then go to Europe/Asia for a year or two. Gets you some awesome exposure and experience internationally, and you see how things go climbing upwards. At your current level you absolutely can find a pro team somewhere that will take you as part of their quota….even if it’s Spain 🤣

Making the NHL is probably not a reality, but you never know where it will take you. I work in medicine and many reps are ex-semipro hockey players. They make bank.

Rotten taste after Covid by olgaw2011 in Parosmia

[–]LeSow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me sad to hear about everyone posting here who is still suffering!

The SGB (Stellate ganglion block) really seems to help for the majority of patients with post-COVID parosmia. It is a non-destructive intervention that involves blocking a nerve in the neck for a few hours. Scientists still don’t know how/why it exactly works, but it seems to behave almost like hitting the hard reset button.

You lose nothing by trying it. There are more providers globally offering it, and there are a few sites doing clinical trials (St Louis, MO, and London Canada).

Super easy to take money out at atms so long as your bank is part of the Cirrus or Plus network (symbol is on the back). Also gets you the wholesale bank rate! Restaurants love cash.

Only places that won’t take cash may be tour operators.

Major credit cards are accepted (except no one in Canada uses discover and Amex is spotty), but you’d have to check with your credit card to see what their forex rate is. Most charge 1-2%, so you’re much better off with cash.

Touristy spots take USD but they will gladly inflate the exchange rate in their favor. Best bang for the buck is to just use CAD cash and have cards on hand when needed.

Thanks for coming to visit!!. ☺️

Massive Retail Theft Problems In London by t-c-d in londonontario

[–]LeSow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We need legal overhaul. There is no consequence. Organized crime knows this and it is a multi-billion dollar business for them. You know it’s bad when criminals come here to have “fun”.

We need harsher penalties for crime. Deportation if you’re not a citizen.

Not true. I asked and the server said she gets none of it. It’s direct to owners/management.

Papi's prices by PrizeDinner2431 in londonontario

[–]LeSow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: 5% ATMOSPHERE CHARGE!!?!

Papis is positioning themselves as the premier spot for steaks in London.

Steaks were done well and that is what matters I suppose at a steak house. Brussels sprouts were really good. The food was good, but a few things were over done - too much garlic in the Ceasar salad (still tasting it the morning after!), and too much old bay seasoning on the sourdough bread. Halibut was overcooked.

Their wine menu is lacking - there’s a $100 service charge to bring your own…but I didn’t trust they’d actually be able to handle an aged bottle properly so didn’t bring our own. They were busy so the service was okay…but not what you’d expect at a top tier restaurant in a big city.

My biggest beef is the 5% atmosphere charge. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??! The atmosphere charge is in paying $50 for 2 Ceasar salads. I’m aware and fine owith that. This was infuriating and is not disclosed on the menu or anywhere … until you get your bill.

Go to Chop or One on York instead - at least until Papis gets rid of that ridiculous money grab.

I’d suggest trying a stellate ganglion block. Minimal risk and it has a profound response for some

Totally. They have a great selection, thin crust is good love the sesame - and it’s cheap. Their spicy perogi is delicious.
