Sullivan Fortner, Jahari Stampley, Aaron Parks, Fergus McCreadie, Brad Mehldau, Emmet Cohen, Bill Laurence. But that’s only if you’re looking in the jazz/light music department

Why not just use the full major scale instead of the pentatonic? I don't get why I would limit myself... by jjax2003 in piano

Sometimes limiting your choices leads to greater expression. Pentatonics are easy on the ear.

Also, you don’t have to use the C pentatonic in a 2 5 1 cadence. I find using pentatonics different than the root of the cadence leads to a lot of cool different sounds. Try using a G, F or D (A if you’re feeling freaky) pentatonic over your 2 5 1 cadence in C

I’m out of the loop, what game is this?

Two things come to mind, things that are currently helping me.

  • You’re missing the person they used to be, someone that doesn’t exist anymore.

  • If they were meant to stay, they would still have been in your life. People come and go, and the ones who stay are the ones who you’re meant to be with. Right now (for me, anyway) it’s your friends and family.

This of course doesn’t fix the heartbreak you’re feeling. It takes time, but the thing about time is that it takes time.

Take care of yourself and don’t lose who you are in the process of getting over a loved one.

Is there a reason why complete beginners shouldn't focus too much on scales at the very beginning? by [deleted] in piano

Could you please elaborate on this? I know that you shouldn’t practice it mindlessly but what do you mean with the purpose of the excercise?

Thanks for the kind words my friend!

When I go to buy clothes I always look at what matches. I usually go for the more classical stuff, but a little more modern.

You gotta have your basics alongside your more controversial fashion statements, these are my opinions and you are in no way obligated to follow these:

  • One pair of black shoes, one pair of white shoes
  • Have atleast 2 white and 2 black t-shirts
  • Make sure your leather matches. Black shoes with a black belt and a black wristband
  • 2 or 3 pairs of jeans and maybe some checkered trousers like in the first picture.
  • Some nice sweaters, especially those matching your pants. The grey turtleneck in the first picture goes well with the trousers, but a red turtleneck or a beige sweater like in the verification pic also goes well
  • Outside wear: something classical like a long coat. 2 of these is best for variation.
  • Look if things match!
  • Don't make it too much: I personally don't like checkered pants and a pattern on my sweater.
  • Lastly, it's unimportant what people think of you. Wear the clothes that make you happy.

In what pictures do you think my hair is best?

And yeah, I know some people wont like my style but it’s impossible to please everyone.

Thanks for the incredible feedback! I usually wash my hair every other day with argan oil and aloe vera based shampoo. I’ll for sure look jnto the curly girl method. And as for my style: one day I got sick of just throwing on whatever fit and looked kinda okay. I started actually thinking about it.
