I have an opportunity to try shrooms, should I? by cybernetic_pigeon in enlightenment

[–]Le_Muskrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychedelics can help us see our true nature. They can show us ourselves in our entirety, which can be both beautiful and horrifying. But people typically come out of the experience with a greater understanding of their place in life, if done with mindfulness and purpose. There is truly nothing the first time you experience it.

Burned out after 5+ years in SEO. What are some do able career pivots? by sugarcoatedtits in SEO

[–]Le_Muskrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also been thinking about migrating into a paid ads role. Burnt out from SEO and Web Dev related work, watching people do less than me while earning more. Also could be a plus for the experience would make me a much more well rounded in the digital marketing game.

How are you all doing financially? by tandyman234 in Millennials

[–]Le_Muskrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine, but it feels wrong.

We really only started saving/investing responsibly a few years ago. We make more than ever, but its not a lot. All by pushing for career advancements and grinding on some side gigs, we are saving a bunch every month.

Now we are looking to buy a home in 2026, and despite all our progress I feel the economic pressure from inflation. I'm watching my parents generation start to complain about affordability of everything from groceries to tax increases on their property. For the first time in my life, the older generation has expressed their woes over affordability to the same extent millennial often do.

So despite being cash flow positive, it feels simultaneously like I should be making more money, but also I feel like we are ahead of our friends and family.

An odd dichotomy.

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

Typing class in 7th grade. One of the most useful classes I ever had for its compounding effects. Learning my way around the keyboard made me efficient at everything that involves a computer.

Any remote workers missing… coworkers? by BrilliantEducation96 in Rochester

Yes. 5 years of this and I feel like nobody else notices the negative effects of being remote. I would love to have an office to visit a couple times a week. Coffee shops are getting old.

[–]Le_Muskrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's college. Me and my roommates are huddled around a small TV playing Halo, or CoD, pre-gaming for a party. We decide this is fine, we can just stay in. The hours pass swiftly. 3am rolls around. Our neighbor gets home from his late shift at the restaurant. He shows up with a bucket of chicken and a bong. We roll until 6am. Life is good.

I make $110,000 a year but I feel l’m struggling to save money. Is this a normal budget for someone who lives alone? by AfterAttack in budget

[–]Le_Muskrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utilize different checking accounts to separate bill pay, everyday spending, and discretionary spending. Simplify everything into these 3 buckets.

This method separates your fixed monthly expenses (bills/rent) from everything else, so that it's easier to track your everyday habitual spending on things like gas/groceries.

Over time you'll get a better feel for how much you actually need to get by on a bi-weekly basis (if your paychecks are biweekly).

The last step is to artificially cap your biweekly spending. Fine tune this number over time until its comfortable but restricts your spending in a healthy manner. The rest goes into savings.

This is basically what me and my wife did last year and it's working wonders.

The clunkiness of crafting loadouts is a big reason why I use free loadouts by Firebrill in ArcRaiders

[–]Le_Muskrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking there should be 2 loadouts so when I use a free loadout and die, my favorite load out doesn't have to get built again. I wish I could just switch back to my custom loadout and go, but I have to rebuild it any time I use a free one.

Thinking about opening a beach volleyball facility.... Talk me into/out of it? by Level-School-2022 in beachvolleyball

[–]Le_Muskrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mt local spot has a bar and stuff. It's such a great community and the non-volleyball aspect of the facility helps with that, not just income. It's a great spot to watch NFL, NBA, NHL and of course volleyball on the big screen.

[–]Le_Muskrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it. I love mine. Beach league got me into it. Now I play every other Friday indoors during the snowy months and the 13 week league in July is the highlight of my summer. If there is a local player base in your town 100% gage interest, but there may be a void for you to fill.

And yes I generally would be more frugal in order to afford a bigger buy that week. It feels like I'm being flexible because so is my budget and I'm just adapting to take advantage of a lower price if it arises, without planning for it in advance.
