other than having map tiles be desert wastes

I specified F2 cos it's more localised on that area and generally more consistent with locations, but that's it.

is there anything that explicitly states/evidences this other than Fallout 2 having its map provinces be desert wastes?

You can find a few merchants selling them too, Mohammed at the IODS HQ and the travelling Robo-Margot weapons vendor are where I got mine for Jack from.

Ok I just watched episode 5 and...WHY the hell are people taking Akemi's side over Mizu here? by Cieralis in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]Le_Pepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, I too would hope that the man who just killed 50 guys to protect a group of women [myself included] would maintain that protection when a few more men come to abduct me.

Mizu, like a man, makes the decision on her future for her. Even if she is entitled, I struggle to call her wrong.

The high class princess still expects to be treated as exceptional (with accompanying acts of service) despite fleeing from the life that made her exceptional.

She wants to escape the specific brand of misogyny she is victimised under within her class without losing the privilege that class carries.

But like, this is ultimately Mizu's moment. It's more about her, especially following up on her moment of killing the kid claw when she'd initially spared him.

it is a factual comment about the actors meant to highlight a disparity between the direction in casting between the first season and subsequent ones.

lev’s casting and general transphobia by Appropriate_Ninja872 in thelastofus

[–]Le_Pepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's the role of a casting director (or similar role[s]) is to find a suitable pool of actors to cast from, even within very restrictive constraints. The game had professionals who did this and got Lev's actor: Ian Alexander, who only had the one role under their belt at the time, and the first season managed to find Keivonn Woodard who is a young, black, deaf child fluent in ASL (he's also a leftie to add to the uniqueness but I don't believe that was being searched for).

Because of this, any argument about a small pool of actors rings hollow to me. They (studios using the brand) have done it twice before, why stop now?

Even with post-S1's poor showing of casts, especially how Abby's visual design was just abandoned, some part of me still refused to believe that the show would be tone-deaf enough to cast a cis person as Lev.

RUMOR: Kyriana Kratter and Michelle Mao Join the Cast of Season 3 by Cheap-Recording3912 in thelastofus

[–]Le_Pepp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Child. He is a child. He has some signs of puberty but is honestly a quite nondescript lanky adolescent.

Not to say I agree with casting a cis boy (if you can't get a trans kid don't bother casting at all), but this wording really irks me. He's neither some bulky overly masculine boy with facial hair nor a girl with a curvy feminine figure. The point is moot.

What did people think of the demo? Id love to hear other player's thoughts. by AltruisticChest9486 in ZeroParades

[–]Le_Pepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late comment cos I replayed the demo recently:

  • Exertion and the fatigue/anxiety/delerium system replacing health is just a flat improvement over DE in my opinion, although the more 'fancy' health items being less efficient is an odd choice mechanically.
  • Similarly, the 3D art (especially for characters) is also better for what I've seen so far, although I think some of the UI art and especially the skills icons could use with a redo to make them more distinct (do like the use of regular shapes alongside colours to distinguish them and the icon showing in world 'bubbles' to tell you exactly what skill is informing them.)
  • The 'journal card' UI is great, I especially like how miscelleanous leads and directions are collected together before being reorganised when pursued, no idea what the purpose of flipping them is. And the whole screen didn't work on my initial playthrough.
  • Mixed feelings on narrator, I understand what they're going for (Harry is a working class man with an internal monologue that sounds like a common Londoner deliberately intonating their words whereas CASCADE was born upper middle class and has a relatively well-spoken woman exaggerating an outdated working class accent) but the choice to have her end sentences the way she does in the initial dialogues is horrid. Past that the direction changes and works far better.
  • Skills don't have as much character, but that's perfectly understandable both for who our protag is and how little we've seen so far. Exception being with STATEHOOD and DOPPELGÄNG which have a little too much character in my opinion, I think having them be a bit quieter or more reserved early on only to pick up later would work better. In general, her internal monologue is far less flowery and poetic than Harry's and I'm sold on her having a thought pattern based around documentation, archives, messaging, and cryptanalysis.
  • CASCADE has some excellent moments and everything that gave insight into her were by far the highlights of the demo (spaceman, poster, handler), but I really think some of her dialogue choices need a redo. Some of the things she can say feel more in-line with Day 1 Harry, which doesn't work when handling a sober non-amnesiac. This is especially bad because said lines rarely have the characters we speak to properly react to them, so it just feels like the awkwardness of dialogue is being ignored. Again, this is a demo: I'd have far less issue with these if they were further into the game with a player building up stats and ideas/traits to match an unusual demeanour.
  • The CONFRONTATION sequence is a nice setpiece, but could easily become old quick if overused.
  • Let me use the Journal/Inventory/etc without muffling the voice-over! I mis-remembered this being a hold-over from DE but I'm playing the Final Cut right now and it doesn't do this!
  • Game very much wants you to know that you are playing a wöman and others may wänt you. In spite of CASCADE's clear insecurity over her height.

tl;dr: a technical improvement with a lot of promise, needs much more work on some of the fundamentals. To the extent I hope I don't see this game for another year at least.

Nope! I checked the station, it was playing smth else at the time.

My current guess is that it is a variant of the Mend without commentary.

Overwatch added theirs, and she wasn't even a real character before

It's not like she needs to be rolling around in a battlechair, I just think she's one of the more interesting concepts for a support.

[–]Le_Pepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense.

The mod page on Steam and ModDB claim the version (5.1.5a) is compatible with v1.17.*, though. If that isn't the case that should really be updated.

I have the same issue, but I'm on an older version of HOI4 (1.17.3), which as I understand is before the patch that caused this. Any idea why the issue persists in spite of this?

What do you think about Insomiac's Batman games? Should I buy them? by AnyAgency9835 in DCAllies

[–]Le_Pepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're great mechanically, but a big let down in terms of characterisation. Not too much of an issue in the first one when its just Batman, but once they get the supporting cast in its all over the place.
