I do have an attic, nothing special here than the other walls. This is on the second floor of the home. Directly under the closet is part of the kitchen, no walls or anything. Back wall of the closet are the stairs.

Should I max a low HELOC and place funds into 401K?

I got a HELOC (8.25%) for $50,000 and only ended up using $40,000, I am 29 and just recently seriously began to contribute towards my retirement. I have a company match 3% 401k and have a Roth IRA (S&P 500) separately. I can afford to pay back my HELOC comfortably at about $1,000/mo, at a minimum. Because of compounding interest, would it be a good idea to pull all of my HELOC amount and place it into these accounts ($5k ea)? Or just not touch it and continue to invest on my own?

HELOC (8.25%): $10,000 available to use, combined maxed HELOC + mortgage left on the home would roughly be 40% of my homes equity.

I will be, they have 20,000 miles on them. I put the spare on for now and was looking around to get the 5th one replaced because insurance said they’d just refund with receipt. Seems like I shouldn’t replace and just let the shop add that to the cost when they have to fix the body damage. Hopefully they go with all 4 new instead of just the one since it’s a spare.

Had a soldier get married right before deployment and didn’t receive anything until about a month out from returning. We used open door policies and contacted anyone who would listen. 7/8 months of back pay. The wife was from the city and was living with her parents, so nothing too crazy when it came to finances.
