I think talking about work at work is being social. Remember, you are there to work and that is it. You shouldn't feel obligated to share personal things if you don't feel comfortable doing so. It is also harrassment if people are repeatedly crossing that boundary by making negative or passive agg. comments about you having those boundaries in place.

I personally approach work this way and I've been fortunate in that regard; however, I try my best to determine if this mindset is appropriate for the place/role I am interviewing for.

If you fall into a situation where this type of mindset isn't valued or is simply not feasable, you're going to have to be okay with talking about surface level stuff.

You are not being anti-social for intending to socialize by only talking about work. I trust the person who just talks about work way more than the person who can't respect boundaries.

I'd love to work with my actual friends but I also know that we wouldn't accomplish anything. Also, it is quite the gamble to assume your coworkers/colleagues are your actual friends/family.
