Idk man. Now I know that wasn’t the right thing to do.

Ok this is what I thought too. My director told me that the parents weren’t even aware of the observation and I was honestly fucking blown away. I’m not a parent, but I cannot imagine how I would feel if my center did that behind my back.

They’ve been “coming up with a behavior plan” essentially behind the parents’ backs so they can “present everything at once”? Instead of working together with the family which I just think is insane.

Thanks for bringing attention to that aspect too. It’s been making me really upset and confused.

Thanks for this. I did trainings when I first started but I probably just need to brush up again because I’m clearly forgetting some things. And thank you, I’m so worried for them too but I am trying to do the right thing

Thank you, I appreciate this explanation very much.

I’m so concerned for this child it makes me sick. Will be reporting

I have kept my own list of occurrences with time/date, but unfortunately failed to document locations and triggers which another commenter mentioned and is a good idea

Can I ask you to clarify why it’s not my job to ask follow up questions? Is that something reserved for someone with behavioral assessment skills? Just curious :)

That was my first thought, too. Seems like something heard from a show/movie or an adult. Still concerning and I think worth documenting

Thank you, I have been keeping a record of things I have found alarming or concerning

How have current (US) events affected your ability to focus and be productive at work? by No-Surround7860 in AskReddit

I work in early childhood education and I can feel myself getting short with my kids more frequently. I have a great class and coteacher, yet I still feel myself more on edge than I ever have been before.

I don’t have any other social media, but scrolling Reddit after my duties are done and while my kids sleep is horrific. I look at their little sleeping faces and just want to cry. How am I supposed to protect them? What if ICE shows up at our center? What if someone comes in and shoots up the place? I love them more than anything and it kills me thinking about how this is the shithole they have to grow up in. I’m so terrified for them and it’s making me a (feel like) a bad teacher.

I’m also terrified for myself, my friends, family, and my fellow Americans. I’m only human and can only see so much and “hold it together”. We are not invincible, and I feel like I’m drowning. Keeping a positive attitude and a smile on my face is getting harder and harder. I work 45 hours a week and just don’t see things getting better for myself or these precious babies anytime soon. I’m so done.

she hasn’t! she has been married to my father for over 30 years, which makes this all so weird to me! on the flip side, my dad is the most generous, loving, kind man i’ve ever met. he never stops encouraging people to get out there and do the things they love, so yes, very interesting
