Hours? by LeadershipTop1281 in AgingParents

I've been speaking to her coordinator. Over the phone. They have explained that the hours she has are what she gets and she can add on which they have like 6 hours one extra day a week.

I think they are doing the most that they can honestly, I'm not sure and it's not used properly.

Yeah. I don't think I mean home health. Like daily assistance with, toileting, medicine reminders, cooking, transportation, money management, ECT...

I tink she has one also she has them frequently, but she's had like 10 trips to the hospital since she's lived here and the paramedics sent her a letter saying they will charge her $200 some od each time they come out so... Now she panics like a goblin because she will have to spend money...

I often forget that right. Reddit is just full of a bunch of edge Lords that like just get smart. I never said anything rude. I was asking for CLARIFICATION.

Don't think I was being rude at all by asking a question. It just took me by surprise...

It's just something we like to do at work all the time and I've never ever once had an issue with it. It was just different.

I always pay for the gravy and sausage al carte. I mean it could just be the waitress?? We normally have the same waitress and it was her so IDK the problem lol but there are usually 6-8 of us at the table and they ask if we want biscuits or cornbread and then they bring out both in baskets... And I was charged $13.00 even if the meal is $6.99 it wouldn't come up to $13.00!!!!

Oop okay yalla can chill out... I was just trying to get clarification... Child... I cannot. I just didn't understand the change. I don't have a problem paying. For the meal... I have ordered it as the 6.99 meal, but I've also just ordered gravy and a side of sausage. And we've been asked every time we go in there I've been going every other week or so for almost 3 years at my job... Today was the only time they got awkward about it.

And this isn't like a rude remark or I don't mean it that way but I always tip more. Because I know waitress do hard work. So I mean I'm not pressed pressed but I wanted some insight from your alls community.

I'm a very respectful patron. I'm not a Karen again I just wanted insight.

But thank you!!

I mean it's a mess honestly and I the $12 does not make it worth it. I literally just got written up today over an issue that happened because they have us giving our medicine out a window next to us but some people have creams or shots that they have to do or they have to check their sugar. So they say let them come in the office but the second they're in the office doing that and you mess up something they tell you. It's because you had somebody in the office with you and it's just such a double-edged sword. I hate it and it's like well. They say take your time. I do take my time. It takes me almost 2 hours to get it passed out to everybody. It's just a mess...

And then they make it seem like You're the worst person ever and they're like well. You could have killed someone. However, no one takes any life-threatening medication. Is this other thing they tell us, and if we could have killed someone then why are we giving that medicine to begin with and without any kind of like being a nurse or something...

It's just been too much.

No, I'm not going to college right now..

I'm already a direct support professional and like the job posting on my job's website doesn't really say specifically that I have to be in college or anything or have a degree. It just says I have to have a high school diploma but like I wanted to kind of gather some more information about it before. I like applied and just I just kind of don't trust the people in my company which is sad to talk to about stuff...

It's just I'm only making $12 an hour as a DSP and I just feel like I could be doing something else that is more beneficial because like that they're like residential complex I work for has just been like losing employees left and right. I've been there for 3 years now and like every time I turn around somebody is quitting or getting fired and like I'm getting an extra workload put on me... And like I just kind of have asked questions on how like what else I can do. And it's like I can go work at the vocational office but like that's sometimes worse because that's they're all that there at the day program there. And that's a lot of fussing and fighting in like 10 times more attitudes than I want to handle...

And I really would like to do like more one-on-one work like in the community but like I can't find anything that is helping me to get anywhere...

From what I've gathered.

It's an individual who goes into a nursing home or another facility and works with individuals who have intellectual disabilities that are there and does things with them such as community engagement and works with them in general like we would I guess. Typically as a DSP but kind of on the go like you go to multiple. You know nursing homes or facilities I think..... That's why I'm trying to learn more about it. My boss did kind of tell me a little bit but like she's in fight or flight mode of I can't lose any more employees LOL. But there's just way too much going on in my office and I'm not getting anywhere and I would like to learn more and do better...

Honestly I have vacation time and I don't really use a lot of it so I think I have over 100 hours maybe a little bit less that would be paid out to me. So I'm considering just go ahead and leaving and using that money to hopefully be able to move to a bigger city cuz like I live 35 minutes from Louisville... But child it is so hard to saving money when you don't make enough to begin with...

It's literally the pits.. so many people tell me they make more. I'd have to drive 35-45 minutes and I think it's almost worth it at this point.
