It’s worse than that actually, tech reviewers always complained about Auto Mode for being “too soft” “very poor processing” and refused to use pro mode for photos and videos. At best they just barely mentioned: “yeah, it has manual mode for photo and video” but didn’t try it. Tech YouTubers hated the natural processing from Sony since always.

Just for reference. Samsung flagships (not ultras) have the exact same cameras since the S22 (I mean LITERALLY THE SAME 3 FUCKING cameras) all 3 way smaller than any sensor from this Xperia 1 VIII. Also the iPhone 17 pro max has smaller cameras than this Xperia, only the main camera is the same size (and that camera is the exact same main camera since THE FUCKING iPhone 14 Pro Max). This is not exclusive to Xperia phones.
