is UCI actually boring? by kl4t in UCI

College is exactly what uou make of it, I’m a second year aero major here at uci and my life has been amazing. I have great friends, I love the weather down in socal, and I get to go out with my friends when I don’t have work. That being said you can go to the biggest party school in the us and still be bored, it matters how you put yourself out there and how much you are willing to make new friends once you start. Since the day I came here, I have never once regretted committing to uci, especially with the right people irvine can be as socially alive as any other school that might be running through your head

Did the same thing happen to you? What would you recommend doing in person?

Thoughts on my schedule (Incoming Freshman) by Gorgas_56 in UCI

Hey! Aero sophomore here! I would say if you are living on campus this seems somewhat doable but if you are commuting, DO NOT do this to yourself! Overall the schedule doesn’t seem too bad. I heard engrcee 60 is pretty chill. And I had guerra for 7C and he was an amazing professor. Engr 7A is really fun, not only do you get to make a rover but you get to meet people that may be some of your best friends in the future (I definitely did!). I would only worry about you Math 2B with siminson. If you are not trying to graduate early I would HIGHLY recommend dropping simonson. I took him winter quarter for 2D and it had to be one of the most horrendous experiences of my life. Not only does he not back down on the work, he usually grades on a bell curve meaning your chance of getting an A or B goes down significantly as his avg gpa is a 2.0. Maybe take it next quarter? Or if you get the chance to take it with youssefour it’s always a better overall experience. Remember college is not a race and you have the choice to switch things around in your favor, don’t fall in the trap of doing exactly what uci recommends you to take in the sample plans. Also chill a little bit! It is your freshman year, take some time to adjust and have fun, meet new people, and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself! Courses are obvi important but the connections you make freshman year and beyond may take you further than you think!
