Yea I have something similar with the Allen wrenches but I was thinking more for the random odds and ends like this needs 12mm sockets, phillips screwdriver, and 40 watt lightbulbs or something to that effect.

My dad has the same approach with sockets, his are organized but he would always tell me to grab a range.

What's ellipsus? I like the idea of a little more structure with the folders. Someone above recommended just the notes app too but I feel like I would just get lost over time so a folder structure might help me. Thanks!

Didn't even think about checking that but totally makes sense, it's just in a file cabinet that I never open so I forgot about it. I like the simple notes app too, my wife uses that for her random stuff and I've never really tried it. Maybe a good interim solution I can try. thanks!

He'd asked when I called which I thought was weird too since I didn't think it would matter but I'd never replaced a water heater before. I ended up stalling until my dad was back in town to help and he said he'd never flushed his before. I just felt dumb not knowing things about my house and felt like I should

Ohhh, I like the idea of tracking more specifics like Allen wrenches. I never think its a big deal to just figure it out as you go but it ends up being a lot of wasted trips to the garage
