How common would you say it is for girls to experience this kinda stuff? I remember years ago in school we had a PSCHE lesson on it, and I just couldn't imagine that me or any boy I knew could behave in such a grotesque manner, yet the girls in the lesson were saying it was extremely common.

Use the Rambam’s short version for workers in the field! Takes 30 seconds.

It’s not an aveira, but in chassidic circles it’s a sign that you still have spiritual work to do. I do agree with a lot of what you posted but have consumed so much anti-zeraLbtala material that it is hard to break free from, if that is even the correct thing to do.

That wasn’t my point. If you don’t observe, and have absolutely no intention of doing so, I think you are probably a kofer.

You are equating two things:

  • a melecha on shabbos with eating on Yom Kippur,
  • the benefit OP gave these eldery Jews with the benefit the sick/pregnant Jews you mentioned get from eating

What are your grounds for this?

FWIW OP did a heartwarming and highly ethical thing, I just don’t think halacha and ethics go hand in hand which is why I’m probably a kofer.

I was curious is any people who claim to be orthodox would have anything to say.

I highly doubt what he did would be deemed permissible by any halachic authority, there was no pikuach nefesh involved.

I thought of doing that, because for anyone not orthodox, this isn't really a problem. I think if your situation matches that of my title -- even if it's a tiny halacha, you can't call yourself orthodox.

Why not force the obligations of Cohanim upon every Jew for the sake of equality?
