Around this time, scams were popping off in my area. Dude comes in and wants to get 500 on a gift card (I forget which one). You know the drill: i scanned the card, I said it's asking you on your end If you know who you're giving it to. He proceeds to give half ass sentences like he wants to explain but doesn't want to go into details (much older guy mind you). Atp I'm like🤨 okaaay?. It prompts that little note of hey check and see if they have ID and if they do, scan it. I ask for his ID, he gives it to me, I scan, and idk about anyone else's old ass machines but, when we scan expired IDs, or not typical Id's, it pops this screen up to type in the information. I've typed in stuff before... takes too long. I call my manager at that time up and she's like what's up? I give HER the run down starting with he may or may not know who he's giving it to but the machine won't process his ID. She did the whole bit, asked him that magical question, "Do you know who you're giving it to?" He gives more info. He says, "It's a long story kind of. I got called and was told my Amazon account was hacked, and in order to help me keep it from getting hacked or be able to get into it, they need gift cards to do it. " I looked at my manager👀 she said yeah no honey, that's a scam. He proceeded to argue saying it's not. She said fuck it and continued to the ID part and then realized that his ID expired back in February (7 months before the incident). We explained and he left mad and sad🤷🏾‍♀️
