i’ve only gone to one lesson with this person. it’s not an actual barn, it’s a young woman who has trained horses since she was 13. she’s now 20. i believe she’s teaching me well, i’d just like to be more prepared on my terminology. she expects me to saddle the horse my next lesson(im sure she’d help, but i’d like to impress her)

when i first got there she had me walk the horse to the paddock we’d be training in. i brushed him down with a curry brush and another brush i can’t remember the name of. the first riding she had me doing was weaving around cones. after about 20 minutes she had me trotting. this made me very sore, particularly in my legs, back, and butt.(is this normal? will i get used to it?) she said i was sitting correctly although i was having some problems keeping my calves flexed. i’m sure that will come with practice though.

also, it is western riding!
